Sacred Heart Catholic Church Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time –September 30, 2018 Reflection from the Pastor: Would that all the people of the LORD were prophets! Would that the LORD might bestow his spirit on them all!Moses’ exclamation of hope has been fulfilled with the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The Holy Spirit, given to all believers at the moment of their baptism, fills them with a share in God’s life. As St. Paul told us, “Now it is not I who lives, but Christ in me”. Because of our baptism we have been called to a life of holiness. That call is a universal call, which means that it is not restricted to a special class of Christians. If in the past people thought that only priests and religious were called to holiness, the Church has never restricted her call to all people, in all generations, to live out their lives in union with God. Holiness consists of desiring and choosing whatever deepens God’s life within us. All is a gift from God; we must respond with confidence and love to those gifts. Fr. Reflection from the Pastor:

“Would that all the people of the LORD were prophets! Would that the

LORD might bestow his spirit on them all!” Moses’ exclamation of hope

has been fulfilled with the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The

Holy Spirit, given to all believers at the moment of their baptism, fills them

with a share in God’s life. As St. Paul told us, “Now it is not I who lives,

but Christ in me”. Because of our baptism we have been called to a life of

holiness. That call is a universal call, which means that it is not restricted

to a special class of Christians. If in the past people thought that only

priests and religious were called to holiness, the Church has never restricted

her call to all people, in all generations, to live out their lives in union with

God. Holiness consists of desiring and choosing whatever deepens God’s

life within us. All is a gift from God; we must respond with confidence and

love to those gifts.

confianza y amor a esos regalos.
