Me complace presentarles el nú-mero 0 de la revista Puerto Tarra-co una publicación que pretende acercarles a nuestras instalaciones y también a nuestro atractivo entor-no.

Tarragona, ciudad Patrimonio de la Humanidad, es el emplazamiento de nuestra Marina, una de las más modernas y de más capacidad de Europa diseñada para superyates-situada en pleno centro del oeste

del Mediterráneo. Unas excelentes conexiones, un aeropuerto a 8 Km, una gastronomía excelente, cam-pos de golf y hoteles de primer ni-vel harán sin duda que su estancia sea muy agradable en un entorno tranquilo y relajado.

Queremos que nos conozcan y, a través de las principales ferias in-ternacionales del sector, incluida la Tarragona Superyacht Show que celebraremos en Puerto Tarraco el próximo mes de mayo, divulga-remos los servicios de primer nivel que tenemos preparados para to-dos ustedes.

Tarragona, declared World Heritage City, is the location of Puerto Tarra-co, one of the most modern and big marinas of Europe designed to superyachts. We are in the centre of the West Mediterranean, with excellent connections (airport 8 km away), well-known gastronomy, golf courses and high quality hotels to make you enjoy a nice stay in a qui-te and relaxed environment.

We want you to know Puerto Tarra-co, this is why we are advertising the first-class services we offer through the main international nau-tical shows, including the one Ta-

Puerto Tarraco is the first marina ex-clusively for super and megayachts in the Med. It offers all the services and comfort these yachts may need and it is situated in Tarragona: a mi-llenary city declared World Heritage by UNESCO, close to Barcelona and near by the strategic points of the Mediterranean Coast like Valencia, Palma de Mallorca or Monaco.

Communication facilities are excep-tional: there is a helipad in the Ma-rina, an airport (Reus International Airport) is 10 minutes away, Barce-lona International Airport is only 50 minutes away, the railway station is 5 minutes on foot from the marina and the highway-network links Tarrago-na and France in only 2 hours and a half.

Puerto Tarraco has been designed by specialists who know the world of Superyacht and its necessities. This is why Puerto Tarraco is prepared to offer all the services these yachts re-quire with the quality and excellence they demand. The marina has 115 berths from 24 to 130 meters, 9 me-ter draft, 12 meter Waiting Quay, up to 500 amperes power supply, fresh water, Internet, satellite TV, sewage collection from the berth, surveillan-ce cameras and 24 hours security service, glass fence of restricted ac-cess separating yachting area from the visitors, etc.

There are also free day workers, ex-clusive areas for the crews – such

Actividades durante todo el año en Puerto Tarraco

Puerto Tarraco cuenta con una amplia zona lúdica y gastronómica con locales comerciales como restaurantes, bares, cervecerías, servicios náuticos, entre otros equipamientos y servicios. Durante los meses de verano, Puerto Tarraco ha previsto un programa estable de actividades, como por ejemplo los “Jueves musicales” donde se ofrecen actuacio-nes musicales en directo de todo tipo: música clásica, jazz o flamenco. También se proyectan películas de cine todos los miércoles por la no-che y durante todo el año hay espectáculos con monologuistas en la taberna inglesa del City Arms. La instalación de una marina de súper yates en Tarragona ha aportado a la ciudad un prestigio añadido y ha abierto nuevos segmentos de mercado. Por este motivo, Puerto Tarraco recibió el pasado 5 de junio el premio de reconocimiento en la XII Nit del Turisme de Tarragona. El evento, organizado por el Patronat de Turisme de Tarragona contó con la asistencia de importantes autoridades y profesionales del sector turístico.

El complejo de la marina es un espacio ideal para relajarse, pasear o tomar una copa con unas vistas inéditas de Tarragona desde el mar. Además, en todo el perímetro de la marina se han instalado unas crista-leras transparentes de protección que permiten pasear o ir en bicicleta en familia con total seguridad tanto para los visitantes como para los yates.

En invierno, la actividad lúdica y cultural continúa. Las fiestas de la ciu-dad, declaradas de interés nacional, se realizan la última semana de septiembre y son el momento ideal para adentrarse en la cultura de la ciudad romana Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO. En el mes de mayo las jornadas sobre divulgación histórico romana, Tarraco Viva, atraen a la ciudad los mejores grupos mundiales de representación y permiten al visitante disfrutar de la gastronomía propia de la época del imperio. Y para relajarse que mejor que practicar deporte en los 3 campos de golf diseñados por Greg Norman en el parque temático Port Aventura.

La joyería Zaida de Tarragona y la firma Rolex celebraron una fiesta exclusiva en el restaurante Rossvand situado en la plaza de la Marina de Puerto Tarraco. Al evento asistieron 400 invitados del mundo de la política, los negocios, así como empresarios y sociedad de Tarragona.

Durante la velada se presentó una selección de modelos exclusivos de la prestigiosa marca suiza Rolex. Entre los asistentes a la fiesta se sorteó un cuadro del pintor Àlvar Ferré. El evento estuvo amenizado con música en directo a cargo de una formación de músicos cubanos.

Rolex, uno de los principales fabricadores de relojes del mundo, tiene una reputación inigualable de alta calidad artesanal. Desde su fundación en 1905, esta empresa ha introducido una serie de innovaciones revolucionarias, que se iniciaron en 1926 con la creación del primer reloj de pulsera verdaderamente hermético, el Oyster. Rolex chooses Puerto Tarraco to launch its new watches “Premium”

Puerto Tarraco offers a recreational and gastronomic area with commercial spaces such as restaurants, taverns, pubs, nautical

business, repair & refit and other services.

During the summer Puerto Tarraco organizes a Plan of Entertaining Activities which includes “Musical Thurdays” – with live music at night: classic, jazz, flamenco, etc -, “Outdoor Cinema” every Wed-nesday and other spectacles in the English Tavern “The City Arms”

like stand-up comedies or live music.

The new superyacht marina Puerto Tarraco increases the presti-gious of Tarragona and opens new market segments for the city. Due to this, Puerto Tarraco was honored last June with the award of the XII Nit del Turismo de Tarragona – the most important award in Tarragona for the companies and projects that promote the qua-lity of the city. The event was organized by the Patronat de Turisme de Tarragona and met important authorities and experts from the

tourist sector.

The marina Puerto Tarraco is the perfect space in Tarragona to relax, take a beer or have lunch enjoying the beautiful view of the city. The glass fence surrounding the mooring area lets the whole family enjoy walking or biking with no risks, not only for the visitors

but also for the yachts and the crews.

In winter, cultural and entertainment activities go on. The City Festi-val in honor of Saint Tecla, declared National Interest, is celebrated the last week of September and it is the perfect moment to know deeper the culture and traditions of the roman city. In May, “Tarraco Viva” (Living Tarraco) presents historic reconstructions of gladiator fights and daily scenes of Rome and restaurants offer lunch spe-cials from the time. And to relax, nothing is better than playing golf in the any of the three golf courses designed by Greg Norman in

Port Aventura Thematic Parc.

The jeweller’s Zaida in Tarragona and the brand Rolex organized together an exclusive party in the res-taurant Rossvand, in Puerto Tarraco. The party met 400 guests, including people from the politic and

business worlds and the high society of Tarragona.

The party was the official launch of a selection of exclusive watches from the prestigious Swiss brand Ro-lex. During the party, a painting form the painter from Tarragona Àlvar Ferré was raffled. A group of Cuban

music was playing live all night long.

El evento contó con una cuarentena de expositores de todo el mundo vincula-dos al sector de los súper yates y a las más prestigiosas marcas a nivel mundial que mostraron las últimas tendencias y los nuevos productos y servicios. En la feria World Royal Superyacht and Luxury Show estuvieron representados los si-guientes sectores: joyería, piezas únicas de relojería, supercoches, jets privados, helicópteros, asesores financieros, dise-ño, arte, antigüedades, delicatessen, de-portes de lujo, ocio, moda y cosmética.

Durante los 4 días de la feria también se pudieron ver más de una cuarentena de súper yates atracados en Puerto Tarraco que expusieron las últimas novedades y tendencias de este tipo de embarcacio-nes.

Entre las actividades paralelas a la feria se realizaron jornadas y seminarios rela-cionados con el mundo del lujo y la náuti-ca, desfiles de moda y fiestas privadas.

Paralelamente a la feria, el pasado 6 de mayo se realizó el congreso internacio-nal Mastering the Future of Superyacht & Luxury Branding en el Palau de Congres-sos de Tarragona. Unos 50 congresistas de todo el mundo asistieron a esta prime-ra edición del congreso sobre la industria de los súper yates y la promoción de las marcas de lujo.

La marina de Puerto Tarraco ha sido la localización escogida para esta edición de la feria por la empresa holandesa World Royal por ser una de las instalacio-nes más modernas y seguras de todo el Mediterráneo. Puerto Tarraco se inaugu-ró el verano de 2007 y actualmente goza de una ocupación del 70% de los locales comerciales y de oficinas.

In the event there were gathered more than forty exhibitors from all around the world, all of them related with the world of superyachts. The most important and prestigious brands showed their most state-of-the-art products and their new services. There were exhibitors from se-veral sectors: jewellery, watch-making, supercars, private jets, helicopters, fi-nancial consulting, design, art, antiques, sports, luxury, entertainment, fashion and

cosmetics.

During the four days of the Show, more than forty superyachts were moored in Puerto Tarraco showing to the attendants to the event the latest tendencies and all the innovations of this kind of vessels. The prices of these yachts are between

3 and 20 millions of euros.

The show also offered seminars and con-ferences related with the luxury and nau-tical world, fashion shows and exclusive

parties for VIP guests.

Previously to the Show, the 6th of May, the international Congress Mastering the Future of Superyacht & Luxury Branding took place in the Palau de Congressos de Tarragona. Around 150 people attended to this first edition of the Congress about

the superyacht industry and its future.

Puerto Tarraco was selected to hold the Show due to the quality and modernity of its facilities. Furthermore, Puerto Ta-rraco is one of the safest ports in the Mediterranean. Puerto Tarraco was offi-cially inaugurated in the summer 2007 and nowadays the 80% of its commercial

premises and offices are rented.

Tarraco Ferrari F430 ScuderiaEspíritu deportivo al 100%Ligero, simple y llamativo por su motor y por el sonido de su tubo de escape: cada uno de los detalles del Ferrari 430 Scuderia rezuma deportividad por los cuatro costados como resultado directo de sus estrechos vínculos con el mundo de las carreras, reflejados en el nombre del vehículo: “Scuderia”. El siete veces campeón del mundo Michael Schu-macher ha colaborado en el desarrollo del modelo, gracias a lo cual la tecnología más avanzada proveniente del universo de los monoplazas queda al alcance de los clien-tes de perfil más deportivo y apasionado de Ferrari. Con un peso en vacío de 1.250 kg y los 510 CV a 8.500 rpm que ofrece su motor V8 de 4.308 cm3 de aspiración natural, el 430 Scuderia presenta un ratio de peso/po-tencia extraordinariamente bajo, de tan solo 2,45 kg/CV, característica que le permite acelerar de 0 a 100 km/h en 3,6 segundos. Así mismo, es capaz de realizar una vuelta en Fiorano en un tiempo comparable al del Enzo, el Ferrari que personifica la filosofía de Maranello de trasvasar los avances de la F1 a sus coches de calle.

Gracias a su sofisticada aerodinámica, la caja de cambios F1-SuperFast2, el E-Diff y el avanzadísimo sistema de control de trac-ción F1-Trac, esta berlinetta deportiva con motor medio-trasero combina un manejo superágil y una aceleración vertiginosamen-te rápida. ¿El resultado? Inigualable placer de conducción tanto en ciudad como en carretera.

Lightweight, simple and striking with a distinctive engine and exhaust sound: every last detail of the Ferrari 430 Scuderia exudes uncompromising sportiness as a direct result of its close links to the world of racing, which is reflected in the car’s name: “Scuderia”. Seven-times World Champion Michael Schumacher was also involved in the car’s development, with the result that the most advanced single-seater te-chnology is now available to Ferrari’s sportiest and most passionate clients. With a dry weight of 2775 lb (1250 kg) and 510 hp delivered at 8500 rpm by its naturally aspirated 4308 cm3 V8 engine, the 430 Scuderia boasts an extraordinarily low weight-power ratio of just 2.45 kg/hp, which allows it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. The result? Absolutely superlative driving pleasure both on the road

and on the track.

100% devotion to sport

El carácter ultradeportivo del 430 Scu-deria y su excepcional rendimiento han llevado a rediseñar muchos de sus ele-mentos interiores y exteriores de diseño. Ello se ha conseguido dando al modelo inspirado en el F430 su propia persona-lidad, fuerte, y mejorando la aerodinámi-ca de lo que es un coche muy extremo. Las modificaciones realizadas en el exte-rior se centran en incrementar el efecto suelo. Como resultado de exhaustivos estudios sobre la reducción del peso del coche, se ha generalizado el uso de fibra de carbono, incluyendo en algunos de los componentes de la carrocería.

La cabina está inspirada en las carreras y, de nuevo, el énfasis se pone en la re-ducción del peso y el uso de materiales técnicos donde sea posible.

El nuevo asiento “Super Racing” presenta una estructura íntegramente en fibra de carbono y está disponible en varias tallas; así mismo, es manualmente ajustable e incluye un ajuste reclinable para la posi-ción en la que el asiento está atrás. El programa Carrozzeria Scaglietti Personalisation también ha sido mejorado para cum-plir los requisitos específicos del 430 Scuderia. La zona Racing y Track, en especial, ofrecen ahora kits de fibra de carbono para el 430 Scuderia para resaltar que se trata de un coche

orientado a la pista. El ensamblaje del faro, la cubierta del mo-tor, el alerón frontal, los kick panels laterales y el difusor están disponibles en este material de alta tecnología. Actualmente existen varios colores de llanta y un casco especial diseñado en fibra de carbono bajo pedido.

The 430 Scuderia’s ultra-sporty character and blistering per-formance have led to the redesign of many of its exterior and interior styling features. This was done to give the F430-inspired model its own strong personality and to further enhance the aerodynamics of what is a very extreme car. The modifications made to the exterior focus on increasing downforce. In-depth research went into reducing the car’s weight and has led to extensive use of carbon-fibre, including some of the bodywork components.

The cabin has been inspired by racing and, once again, the emphasis has been on weight reduction and using technical materials where possible.

The new “Super Racing” seat boasts an all-carbon-fibre structure and is available in several different sizes as well as being manually adjustable, including a recline adjustment for the seat back. The Carro-zzeria Scaglietti Personalisation program-me has also been enhanced to meet the 430 Scuderia’s specific requirements as well. The Racing and Track area, in par-ticular, now offers carbonfibre kits for the 430 Scuderia to enhance the message

that this is a lean, track-focused driver’s car. The headlamp assembly, engine cover, front spoiler, side sill kick panels and diffuser are all available in this high tech material. There is also now a choice of wheel rim colours and a specially designed carbon-fibre helmet is available to order.

La actividad del Astillero esta distribuida en dos áreas la de construcción de embarcaciones nuevas y la de reparación & refit, cada una de ellas con sus respectivas instalaciones y equipos profesionales especializados que se caracterizan por su experiencia en el mercado del superyate.

La ubicación en el Puerto de Tarragona ofrece unas posibi-lidades excepcionales, al disponer de grandes facilidades de comunicación con un Aeropuerto a 10 minutos del Astillero y otro Aeropuerto el de Barcelona a 50 minutos, además de es-tar en el eje de comunicación mediterráneo tanto por carretera como por ferrocarril. Tarragona ofrece como capital de provin-cia todas las facilidades de una gran ciudad con la ventaja de que todas las distancias se encuentran a pocos minutos de la zona portuaria.

El Astillero dispone de instalaciones modernas capacitadas para ofrecer servicios de construcción y reparación completos, además dispone de alianzas estratégicas con proveedores es-pecializados en la zona que facilitan su crecimiento, dispone de 3.000m2 de talleres, una zona especifica para la construcción de cascos con materiales compuestos que incluye un horno de 1.500m2 que permiten la construcción de yates en fibra de carbono de hasta 30 metros de eslora y 4800 m² para la cons-trucción de cascos de aluminio de hasta 80 m de eslora. The shipyard’s activity distributed in two areas: construction of new yachts and that of repair & refit one, each of them with his respective facilities and professional specializing equipments that are experience on the market of the superyachts. El campo Norte, firmado por Greg Nor-man, tiene 18 hoyos y un par 71. Se tra-ta de un campo llano con humedales, ubicado al lado de un espacio natural protegido, en el que el agua está en equilibrio con la estrategia del juego.

El campo Centro, también firmado por Greg Norman, cuenta con 9 hoyos y un par 35. Es un campo amplio, sencillo e ideal para jugadores de nivel medio. Por su situación y diseño permite com-binarse tanto con el campo Norte como con el Sur.

En cuanto al campo Sur, diseñado por Alfonso Vidaor y Magí Sardà, cuen-ta con 18 hoyos y un par 72. Al estar ubicado en un terreno con desniveles naturales, entre pinares y con magnífi-cas vistas al mar, cuenta con un diseño integrado y sinuoso apetecible para al juego.

The new PortAventura Golf courses are designed along the lines of the new American golf course style concept. This means that they offer movement and styles of play very different from the tra-ditional ones. All the work for the design and construction strictly followed a plan to respect and preserve the environment. When the courses were awarded the co-veted Gold Seal by the prestigious con-servation organisation, Audabon Inter-national, they were immediately ranked alongside the world’s top courses that respect and protect the environment. The PortAventura golf courses bear the hallmark of reconition that distinguishes them as environmentally friendly and sustainable.

The Norte (North) course, which bears Greg Norman’s signature, is an 18 hole par 71. It is situated next to a protected nature reserve and is flat, with natural marshland water features which have been cleverly integrated into the strategy of the game.

The Centro (Centre) course, also bea-ring Greg Norman’s signature, is a 9 hole par 35. This is a wide course which is straightforward and ideal for mid-level players. Situated between the North and

South courses, it can be easily combined with another game on either.

The sportswear collection is made up of three themes. Campus Sport combines a rugged rugby look with rowing influen-ces. Navy, bordeaux and bottle green ac-centuate the feel of this theme.

The Boston City theme is a city sports look offering a mixture of sport, comfort and class. The colours are black, grey and off-white with cherry-red accents.

The Alaska theme is centred around more high-tech fabrics and fresh colours. The focus is on the McGregor red, white and blue.

La colección Sportswear consta de tres temas. Campus Sport combina la ener-gía del rugby con influencias del remo. Azul marino, burdeos y verde botella subrayan el carácter del tema.

The central themes in the casual collec-tion are Library and City Lanes. With Li-brary the homeliness of New England is combined with a rugged outdoor feel. Warm autumnal colours like chocolate brown and camel are teamed with fresh blue tones.

City Lanes is an urban look. Favourites in this theme include the fitted bodywarmer and the body-hugging biker jacket, while the parka also makes a comeback. Pur-ple and lilac are the striking accent colo-urs trough this line.

Tarragona es un lugar que ofrece múl-tiples opciones para el tiempo de ocio: puerto deportivo, parque subacuático, campo de golf, piscinas climatizadas, teatro, auditorio y casino. La ciudad ha apostado por el medioambiente, a pesar de tener un importante polo in-dustrial. Su variada gastronomia, sus excelentes vinos y una zona comercial en auge, la convierten en un destino singular.

Tarragona está situada al sur de Euro-pa, en España, a 92 kilómetros de Bar-celona. Está perfectamente comunica-da con dos aeropuertos internacionales cercanos, el de El Prat, a 70 kilómetros, y el de Reus, a 7 kilómetros. Por ferro-carril enlaza directamente con las prin-cipales capitales. Cuenta con un puerto comercial de los de mayor tráfico del Mediterráneo y con el Puerto Tarraco, espacio destinado a recibir cruceros de lujo.

La ciudad se levanta sobre una colina que le sirve de atalaya natural, “el bal-cón del Mediterráneo que siempre está abierto al mar”. Tiene una extensión de 63 kilómetros cuadrados. Su tempe-ratura media anual es de 18º (25º en verano, 12º en invierno) y cuenta con 125.000 habitantes.

Tarragona, digna heredera de la Tarraco Imperial, es una ciudad singular que ha sabido combinar su legado de romani-dad con su pasado medieval y sus ge-nuinas joyas modernistas; todavía hoy es un privilegiado destino turístico.

La Tarragona medieval ofrece una sin-gular sorpresa al visitante. La ciudad fue importante enclave eclesiástico en estos siglos, de cuyo arte religioso y se-

ñorial han quedado magníficas mues-tras. A partir del año 1171 se empiezan a erigir las iglesias de Santa Maria del Miracle, Sant Pau o Santa Tecla la Ve-lla; también se construye el hospital de asistencia a los menesterosos, la actual torre del Pretorio y la catedral, cuyas obras no se llegaron a finalizar por falta de fondos pero que fue consagrada en el año 1331; es de obligada visita.

El campanario combina el románico en la base con el gótico del resto del cuer-po. Son dignos de reseñar el artesona-do, la piedra ornamental de sus muros, sus retablos en piedra, los vitrales, es-pecialmente el rosetón central, el altar mayor, la capilla renacentista y la capi-lla de los Sastres.

El conjunto escultural del claustro, de planta rectangular, es uno de más re-marcables del arte románico en Catalu-ña. Para contrastar la importancia ecle-siástica de Tarragona se puede visitar el Museo Diocesano, donde se halla una importante colección de tapices.

La Tarragona moderna ofrece al visitan-te muchos lugares de interés. Desde el siglo XVI hasta comienzos del XIX, la ciudad se convierte en una plaza fuer-te y se construyen los fortines avanza-dos de Sant Jordi y de la Reina María Estuardo, en la punta de la playa del Milagro. De esta época son las casas nobles de Canals, Montoliu y Castellar-nau, con unos magníficos patios inte-riores, y la antigua Audiencia.

El actual edificio de la Casa Castellarn-au data de principios del siglo XV. Fue la residencia de algunas de las familias más influyentes de la ciudad. Así mis-mo, Carlos I residió en ella durante su

estancia en Tarragona.

Tarragona es un lugar que ofrece múl-tiples opciones para el tiempo de ocio: puerto deportivo, parque subacuático, campo de golf, piscinas climatizadas, teatro, auditorio y un casino. La ciudad ha apostado por el medio ambiente, a pesar de tener un importante polo in-dustrial. Su variada gastronomía, sus excelentes vinos y una zona comercial en auge la convierten en un destino sin-gular.

Y para acompañar tan suculentas co-midas, existe una magnífica carta de vinos con la denominación de origen Tarragona.

Otro de los grandes atractivos para el visitante lo encontramos en los 15 kiló-metros de costa que dan origen a sus playas y atractivas calas de fina arena, aguas cristalinas y fácil acceso. En la Punta de la Móra se halla la reserva sal-vaje del Gaià.

Para el visitante, la ciudad ofrece una gran variedad de fiestas tradicionales como los carnavales o la Semana San-ta de Tarragona, la más consolidada del Mediterráneo español. Declarada de In-terés Nacional, celebra la procesión del Santo Entierro, que tiene su origen en el año 1550, al atardecer del Viernes Santo.

En las Jornadas de Divulgación Históri-ca Romana, Tarraco Viva, en las que se reproduce la vida de la época romana, se reviven juicios, paradas militares y luchas de gladiadores, y en los restau-rantes de la ciudad se pueden degustar los platos típicos de la época.

Tarragona is a place that offers a wealth of recreational options: a marina, a un-derwater park, a golf course, heated swi-mming pools, a theatre, auditorium and casino. The city is committed to the envi-ronment, despite being a major industrial hub.

Its varied cuisine, superb vines and a bur-geoning shopping district, make it a really unique destination.

Tarragona lies some 92 kilometres to the south of Barcelona in Spain. It has exce-llent connections via two nearby inter-national airports; one being Barcelona’s El Prat at 70 kilometres and the other in Reus, just 7 kilometres away. The city has direct rail links with all the main Spanish capitals. It has one of the largest com-mercial ports in the Mediterranean as well as a marina Puerto Tarraco for luxury cruise ships.

The city stands up on a hill which serves as a natural vantage point, “the balcony of the Mediterranean, always open to the sea”, and covers an area of 63 square kilometres. The average annual tempe-rature is 18º (25º in summer, 12º in win-ter) and it has a population of 125,000 people.

Tarragona, the worthy heir to Imperial Ta-rraco, is a unique city that has managed to combine its Roman legacy with a me-dieval past and genuine Modernist trea-sures; today it is still a privileged tourist destination. Medieval Tarragona offers the visitor a series of delightful surprises. The city was a major ecclesiastic enclave during this period, leaving us some magnificent examples of religious and stately buil-dings. From 1171 the churches of Santa Maria del Miracle, Sant Pau and Santa Tecla la Vella started to be built, as well as the Hospital of the Poor, the present Praetorian Tower and the Cathedral, whose construction would not be com-pleted due to lack of funds, but which was consecrated in 1331; this is an ab-solutely essential sight.

The belltower has a Romanesque base while the rest of the structure is in Gothic style. Worthy of special mention is the coffering, the ornamental stonework of its walls, its stone altarpieces, the stained-

glass windows, especially the central Rose window, the high altar, the Renais-sance chapel and the Tailor’s Chapel.

The sculptural whole of the cloister, in a rectangular shape, is one of the most re-markable examples of Romanesque art in Catalonia. To further corroborate the ecclesiastic importance of Tarragona, you can also visit the Diocesan Museum where there is an impressive collection of tapestries.

Modern Tarragona offers visitors many sights of interest. From the 16th century through to the beginning of the 19th cen-tury the city became a stronghold and the watchtowers of Sant Jordi and Reina María Estuardo were built at the top of Milagro beach. Dating from this period are the noble houses of Canals, Montoliu and Castellarnau, with their magnificent interior patios, and the former Assembly.The current building of the Castellarnau house dates back to the beginning of the fifteenth century. It was the home of some of the most influential families in the city. King Carlos I himself lived here during his stay in Tarragona.

And to accompany these mouth-wate-ring meals, there is a superb range of wines bearing the Tarragona designation of origin.

Another of the great attractions for visi-tors can be found in the 15 kilometres of coastline which offers beautiful coves and long stretches of fine sand, crysta-lline waters and easy access. At Punta de la Móra you will find the Gaià nature reserve.

The great advantage of Tarragona is that you can visit all the shops on foot via the various pedestrianised areas or the Ram-bla Nova, the main artery of the city. In the upper part some of the shops still have Roman remains in their interiors. The Via T is a shopping zone where you can shop out in the open air and where city centre traders have stalls.

Tarraco Viva, the Annual Festival of Ro-man History, reproduces life in the Roman era, with re-enactments of trials, military parades and gladiatorial fights, and in the city’s restaurants you can sample the ty-pical dishes from those times.

Los cabos son excelentes y seguros ante los vientos más fuertes. En mi experiencia, Puerto Tarraco es una de las mejores marinas en las que he estado – pasa-mos en ella seis meses durante el invierno de 2007/2008.Como base ofrece un resguardo excelente para el yate, la seguridad y la privacidad ofrecidas son de primer nivel y el equipo al completo es amable y agradable.Recomiendo decididamente esta marina, ya que satisface todas las necesidades de un yate para su hibernaje: hay servicios e instalaciones para el mantenimiento, acceso a gran cantidad de repuestos, una interesantísima ciudad histó-rica para explorar, negocios varios y avitualla-miento.Pero por encima de todo, el personal de la ma-rina aporta el punto extra para hacer que todo esto funcione.
