(Based on LCAP Committee & Stakeholder Feedback)
Needs•Families express a significant need to understand the academic expectations of their children and of their role in the school system•Families want welcoming environments in their schools•Families want improved home-to-school communication in their home language and/or in their preferred delivery methods•Educators need training and support to build family-teacher relationships and partnerships•LCAP mandates authentic and meaningful family engagement as well as shared decision making

Multilingual Parent EducationCustomizing family education in English, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, Tagalog, and Vietnamese helps us build a bridge for families to become language ambassadors in their schools and active participants in ELAC, SSC, DELAC, LCAP, and employment in our School District—participants become Coordinators, family education facilitators, and Paraprofessionals in our
school district.
The School Smarts program builds our elementary families’:• Leadership capacity —graduates
join PTAs, SSC, and LCAP committees and our Equity Roundatables
• School-home connections —principals report families are more confident and are getting more involved in school and community
• Skills and knowledge are cultivated in families to help them encourage and expect student academic achievement
