It is snow time. Winter is coming andwith it, each of the Argentine ski center isgetting ready to welcome thousands oftourists. It is time for relax and sports inthe white giant.
In this issue, we present one of the mostimportant winter destinations: the LaHoya‘s CMA, in the city of Esquel, Chubut.Thanks to its particular location at thefoothills of the Andes Mountains Range, itssouth position, its abundant precipitationsand dry climate, it offers a season thatstarts by the end of June and finishes byOctober, with excellent quality snow. It isideal for the family, the sport lovers andfor those who know how to appreciate afantastic landscape.
In the central area of the country, aproposal for those who want to livesomething different: an underground tourof more than 1,000 meters through ElSauce caves; they are the longest ones inthe province of Córdoba. You can visitthem both, during the day or at night,and the experience will be a uniqueadventure.
Finally, in the north, «The greatestWinter Fest in the country» takes place inCatamarca, where it is performed the45th National and International PonchoFest, from 9th to 19th July. There, 400,000people get together every year to knowand admire the creations by the craftsmenfrom Catamarca, from all around thecountry and abroad, in a clear culturalidentity manifestation .
Es tiempo de nieve. Llega el invierno ycon él, cada uno de los centros de esquíargentinos se prepara para recibir a mi-les de turistas. Es tiempo de deporte en elgigante blanco, y también es tiempo derelax.
En esta edición les presentamos uno delos más importantes destinos invernales: elCAM La Hoya, en la ciudad de Esquel,Chubut. Beneficiado por su particular for-ma y su ubicación en pre cordillera, porsu posición de cara sur y sus abundantesprecipitaciones y clima seco, ofrece unatemporada que va desde finales de juniohasta bien entrado el mes de octubre, connieve de excelente calidad. Ideal paradisfrutar en familia, para los amantes deldeporte y para quienes saben apreciarun paisaje soñado.
En la región centro del país, una pro-puesta para aquellos que quieranvivenciar algo distinto a todo: un recorri-do subterráneo de más de 1.000 metrosa través de las cavernas El Sauce, las máslargas de la provincia de Córdoba. Sepueden realizar paseos diurnos o noctur-nos para aventurarse a una experienciaúnica.
Y por el norte, la «Fiesta de Inviernomás grande del país» se vive enCatamarca, donde del 9 al 19 de juliotendrá lugar la XLV° Fiesta Nacional eInternacional del Poncho. Allí, más de400.000 personas se congregan cada añopara conocer y admirar las creaciones deartesanos catamarqueños, del país y delexterior, en una clara manifestación deidentidad cultural .

DOS SENDEROS HACIA LOS ORÍGENESPara conocer los orígenes de la provincia, Corrientes invita a recorrer laRuta de la Yerba Mate y la Jesuítica, donde se pueden contemplar antiguasruinas de las misiones, entre las que se destaca la Capilla de San Alonso,construida hace 300 años en la localidad de Gobernador Virasoro.
Corrientes no es sólo sinónimo decarnaval, esteros y playas. Cuna delos pueblos originarios guaraníes,la provincia litoraleña ofrece unrecorrido para acercar al turista ala costumbre argentina más reco-nocida mundialmente: el mate. Ade-más, a pocos kilómetros, otro cami-no lleva a los viajeros hacia los co-mienzos del mundo jesuita, donde
quienes transmitieron a las coloniasjesuitas la forma de consumirla.
Para comprender cómo esta infu-sión llegó a ser una costumbre ar-gentina por excelencia, Corrientesinvita a recorrer la Ruta de la Yer-ba Mate, que la une con la provin-cia de Misiones, donde también secultiva y se elabora este producto.El camino, que recibe un promedio

de 200 mil visitantes por año, transita campos de tie-rra roja, vegetación abundante, patrimonios de la hu-manidad y legados jesuíticos, que acercan al turista alos orígenes de una tradición.
La ruta, que cuenta con el apoyo de las carteras deIndustria, Cultura y Turismo de la Nación, recibe viaje-ros de diversos puntos de Argentina, Estados Unidos yEuropa. Allí, 190 establecimientos artesanales,ecológicos e industriales permiten conocer el procesocompleto de producción, desde las extensas planta-ciones pasando por la cosecha, el secado, la molienday el envasado del producto final.
Gracias a la yerba mate, la gastronomía típica localse impregna de un sabor original y único. Además, sepuede degustar una amplia variedad de yerbas, des-cubrir sus propiedades y aprender sobre las diferen-tes formas de tomar mate, que van desde un mateamargo y caliente, con cascaritas de naranja o hier-bas, hasta llegar a una versión fría, conocida como«tereré».
En cuanto a la duración del recorrido, puede optarsepor tres días y dos noches de alojamiento, dos días yuna noche, o excursiones diurnas como los paseos aestancias yerbateras o establecimientos productoresde yerba mate.
Por las ruinas de un tiempo lejanoLa Ruta Jesuítica recorre las localidades de Yapeyú,
La Cruz, Santo Tomé, San Carlos y San Alonso, dondelas misiones jesuíticas dejaron su huella con capillas yconstrucciones antiquísimas. El camino se inicia en laspoblaciones de Mocoretá y Monte Caseros, ubicadasa orillas del gran lago de Salto Grande, hasta llegara Paso de los Libres, cuna del carnaval correntino.
El tercer punto del recorrido es Yapeyú, donde seconservan los restos de una de las más importantesantiguas misiones jesuitas de la región, fundada en1626. Además, la ciudad se destaca por contar conrelevantes espacios históricos como la Casa Natal delGeneral Don José de San Martín, el MuseoSanmartiniano y el Museo de la Cultura Jesuítica.

Los Tres Cerros, las elevaciones más significativasde la provincia, indican la llegada a la ciudad de LaCruz, donde se encuentra el único reloj de sol que aúnexiste de aquella época. Pasando por Santo Tomé, a14 kilómetros de la ciudad de Gobernador Virasoro,se alza la capilla de San Alonso, que fue declaradaintegrante del Patrimonio Cultural de Corrientes y deInterés Histórico Cultural (ver recuadro).
La Ruta Jesuítica finaliza en la localidad de SanCarlos, donde se haya la mayoría de los restos delpasado que conserva el país e inclusive, se conservanmuros jesuíticos de dos metros de altura.
Para quienes desean acercarse a los orígenes, es-tas rutas correntinas son una opción ineludible. Lossabores y la historia llevarán al turista a compren-der cómo fueron los primeros encuentros entre las di-ferentes culturas que habitaron el litoral argentino.Seguramente, será un buen momento para tomarseun mate .
Ruinas de San Alonso, 300 años de historiaLa capilla se encuentra ubicada en el Paraje San Alonso, sobre laRuta Nacional 14, a la altura de Gobernador Virasoro. Construidaen 1714, como parte de la «reducción Jesuítica Guaraní de losSantos Apóstoles Pedro y Pablo», sirvió como puesto de estancia,oratorio, cárcel provisoria y posta. Aún quedan algunas de susparedes en pie, formadas por piedra tacurú.Con el fin de activar la recuperación de la memoria oral e históri-ca del sitio, la arqueóloga María Eugenia Turus lleva adelante elrescate arqueológico de la capilla que, en el año 2011, fue decla-rada integrante del Patrimonio Cultural de Corrientes y de InterésHistórico Cultural junto con la ciudad de San Carlos, a través de laLey Provincial Nº 6.055.El sitio actualmente cuenta con un circuito de unos 500 metroscuadrados, donde se puede observar lo que queda del oratorio y elcementerio. Además, los visitantes pueden realizar caminataspor los senderos del bosque nativo, avistaje de fauna y safarisfotográficos. El recorrido guiado dura una hora aproximadamente,el acceso es totalmente gratuito y abierto a todo público.

TWO PATHS TOWARDS THE BEGINNING
In order to know the origins of the province, Corrientes invites you to travel aroundthe Yerba Mate and the JESUIT Route, where you can contemplate ancient ruins ofmissions, among which the Chapel of San Alonso, built 300 years ago in the districtof Gobernador Virasoro, stands out.

littoral culture, not only for its importance in the regio-nal production but also for its history. Its first cropsdate back to the 17th century and the Guaraníes werethe people who transmitted the way to consume it tothe JESUIT colonies.

costume for excellence, Corrientes invites you to travelaround the Yerba Mate Route, which connects it withthe province of Misiones, where it is also cultivatedand the yerba is manufactured. The way, whichreceives an average of 200 thousand visitors a year,goes through red soil fields, abundant vegetation,heritages of mankind and Jesuit legacies, whichapproaches the tourist to the origins of a tradition.
The route, which has the support of the Ministry ofIndustry, Culture and Tourism of the Nation, receivestravelers from different areas of Argentina, theUnited States and Europe. There, 190 ecological,industrial and handicraft production places let youknow the whole production process, from the vastplantations, the harvest, the drying, the milling andthe packaging of the final product.
Thanks to the yerba mate, the typical gastronomyof the zone gets a unique and original flavor.Additionally, you can taste a wide range of herbs,discover their properties and learn about differentways of drinking mate, which varies from a bitter andhot mate, with orange rinds or herbs to a cold versionknown as «tereré».

San Alonso Ruins, 300 years of historyThe chapel is located in San Alonso, on the National Route 14, nearGobernador Virasoro. It was built in 1714, as a part of the «Jesuit-Guaraní reduction of Saint Apostles Peter and Paul», it worked asa farm, prayer room, temporary jail and staging post. There stillremain some walls, built of tacuru stones.With the aim of activating the recovery of the oral and historicalmemory of the place, the archeologist María Eugenia Turus directsthe archeological rescue of the chapel, which was declared Cultu-ral Heritage and Historical Cultural Interest of Corrientes togetherwith the city of San Carlos in 2011, through the Provincial Law N°6.055.At present, the place has a 500-square- meter- circuit, where itcan be observed the remains of the prayer room and cemetery.Besides, the visitors can go trekking around the native forest,watch the fauna and participate in photographic safaris. The guidedtour lasts approximately an hour; the access is completely freeand is open to everyone.

Around the ruins of a faraway timeThe Jesuit Route travels around the districts of
Yapeyú, La cruz, Santo Tomé, San Carlos and SanAlonso, where the Jesuit missions left their marks withchapels and ancient constructions. The way starts inthe populations of Mocoretá and Monte Caseros,located by the edge of the great lake of SaltoGrande, up to Paso de los Libres, cradle of thecarnival of Corrientes.
The first stop of the tour is Yapeyú, where theremains of one of the most important ancient Jesuitmissions of the region are kept, founded in 1626.Besides, the city is remarkable for having relevanthistorical places such as the House of the GeneralJosé de San Martín, the Museum of San Martín andthe Museum of the Jesuit Culture.
The Tres Cerros, the most important elevations in theprovince, indicate the arrival of the city La Cruz,where you can find the only sundial that still existsfrom that time. Going through Santo Tomé, 14kilometers away from the city of GobernadorVirasoro, the chapel of San Alonso rises. It wasdeclared Cultural Heritage of Corrientes and Culturaland Historical Interest (see chart).
The Jesuit Route ends in the district of San Carlos,where there are located the majority of the remains
of the past that the country keeps, and even two-meter-high Jesuit big walls are kept.
For those who want to get closer to the origins,these routes from Corrientes are an unavoidableoption. The flavors and history will take the tourist tounderstand what the first meetings among thedifferent cultures that lived in the Argentine littoralwere like. It will be for sure such a great time todrink a mate .

Todo está preparado para la temporada 2015 en el CAM LaHoya, reconocido en el mundo del deporte invernal por su calidad denieve en polvo, característica que permite muy buenos deslizamientosde esquí y snowboard en los 22 kilómetros extendidos en 29 pistas.
Por su ubicación en pre cordillera, su forma particular y su orienta-ción sur, sus pistas están pocas horas expuestas a los rayos solares.Esto, sumado a las abundantes precipitaciones y clima seco, hace quela nieve se mantenga seca por más tiempo, lo que permite ofreceruna temporada que va desde finales de junio hasta bien entrado elmes de octubre.

El CAM La Hoya cuenta con uno de los Snow-Parks más grandesy completos de Sudamérica para la práctica del Freestyle en lasdisciplinas de esquí y snowboard. Consultado por Cambio de Aire y para tranquilidadde los visitantes, el director del CAM La Hoya, GustavoRossi, aseguró que las cenizas del volcán chileno Calbuco,erupcionado el pasado mes de abril, «fueron casi im-perceptibles en el cerro, ya que las condiciones de losvientos hicieron que no nos afectaran».
La Hoya, el Centro de Esquí de Esquel, espera a losturistas con actividades tales como: esquí alpino,snowboard, fuera de pista, esquí de travesía, esquí defondo, bajadas de antorchas, circuitos de esquí crossboarder cross. Además, cuenta con Snow-Park para lapráctica de freestyle en las disciplinas de esquí ysnowboard, siendo sede de la Free Session de fin detemporada desde 2004 y uno de los más destacadosde todos los parques de Sud América.
Seguridad y servicios de primer nivelLa calidad de la nieve y los exhaustivos controles
en la infraestructura convierten al Centro en un destinoseguro, apto para familias y con posibilidades de plani-ficar varios días de esquí extendido en cuatro meses.
«La Hoya se destaca como centro de esquí para lafamilia por su seguridad, los trayectos de distinta difi-cultad y la calidad de la nieve. Todas estas característi-cas hacen que sea un lugar de diversión para todo tipo
de público», destaca Rossi.Como todos los años y luego de las tareas de manteni-
miento que se realizaron en la temporada de verano, elINTI (Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Industrial), inspec-cionó y certificó el estado de las pistas y los materialesque componen los medios de elevación del lugar, en posde la seguridad de los esquiadores.
Respecto de las tarifas, posee una de las más compe-titivas del mercado según el director del Centro. «Se ca-racteriza por sus precios accesibles y por beneficios comola compra anticipada de pases, que continúa hasta elúltimo día de mayo». Además, aseguró que «este año,los residentes de Chubut tendrán también un descuentoen los pases diarios de baja y media temporada».
Los turistas que año a año llegan el Cerro «son, en sumayoría, residentes de la provincia de Chubut, BuenosAires y Córdoba», dijo Rossi, a la vez que aseguró que«del extranjero, también nos visitan franceses, brasilerosy chilenos, entre otros».
Lo cierto es que, indepen-dientemente de qué provin-cia o país provengan, aque-llos que elijen La Hoya comolugar de vacaciones, lo ha-cen una y otra vez .

SNOW SEASON IN LA HOYA
Located just 12 kilometers away from thecity of Esquel, in Chubut, it is the Center ofMountain Activities (CMA); ideal forfamilies and for those who do sports in thesnow and at the same time wish to relax ina breathtaking landscape.
Everything is prepared for the 2015 season atCMA, in La Hoya, renowned in the world of wintersports for its quality of powder snow, a feature thatallows very good ski and snowboard sliding in the22 kilometers extended in 29 runs.
Due to its location in the Andean foothills, itsparticular shape and its South orientation, its runsare exposed to the sunrays for a few hours.Additionally, the abundant precipitations and dryclimate make the snow remains dry for a longer time,which allows a season that lasts from the end of Juneto October.
For the relief of the visitors, Cambio de Aire talkedto the director of La Hoya´s CMA, Gustavo Rossi,and he assured that the ashes of the Chilean volcanoCalbuco, which erupted last April, «were almostimperceptible in the hill, since the wind conditions didnot affect us».
La Hoya, the Ski Center of Esquel, welcomes itstourists with activities such as alpine skiing,snowboard, off-road skiing, ski touring, cross-countryskiing, downhill torch parade, skiing circuits and crossborder skiing. Besides, it has Snow Park for
La Hoya´s CMA has one of thebiggest and most completeSnow-Parks for skiing andsnowboard Freestyle in SouthAmerica. It is one of theinternational teams´ favoritecenters which use the ski runsespecially prepared for theirtraining (like the Italian,French and Spanish).

First class safety and servicesThe snow quality and the thorough controls in the
infrastructure make the Center a safe destination,apt for families and with possibilities of planningmany skiing days for four months.
«La Hoya stands out as a family ski center for itssafety, the different difficulty journeys and the snowquality. All these characteristics make it a place forfun for all kinds of people», Rossi remarks.
Like every year and after the maintenance tasksthat were performed during the summer season, theNational Institute of Industrial Technology inspectedand certified the state of the runs and materials thatmake up the means of elevation of the place insearch of safety for the skiers.
Concerning the fees, they are one of the mostcompetitive in the market according to the director ofthe Center. «It is remarkable for the accessible pricesand benefits such as the purchase of anticipatedtickets that are valid up to the last day of May».Moreover, he assured that the residents of Chubutwill also have a discount in the daily tickets of highand mid-season».
«Most of the tourists who arrive at the hill yearafter year are residents of Chubut as well as ofBuenos Aires and Córdoba. From abroad, the French,the Brazilian and the Chilean also visit us», Rossicommented.

NIEVE Y ADRENALINA, UNA PAREJA PERFECTA
Tanto para los profesionales como para los aventureros, los paisajes nevados de la Argentinainvitan a disfrutar de una gran variedad de actividades, entre las que se destacan el esquí y elsnowboard, que combinan entrenamiento con alto riesgo.

Los centros de esquí y parques de nieve se desplie-gan a lo largo de las diferentes provincias. Los másdestacados son: el centro de esquí Las Leñas, ubicadoal sur de Mendoza; los Cerros Caviahue, Chapelco y
Bayo, en la provincia de Neuquén; el Cerro Catedralen Río Negro; el CAM La Hoya en la provincia de Chubut;y el Cerro Castor en la provincia de Tierra del Fuego.
En todos ellos, las estrellas son el esquí y elsnowboard, pero las actividades como snowcats, ra-quetas, tubing y trineos son otras opciones para quegrandes y chicos puedan divertirse en la nieve.

El esquí de fondo es una modali-dad donde los competidores reco-rren largas distancias para comple-tar el recorrido en el menor tiempoposible. Se realiza en terrenos lla-nos u ondulados, a diferencia delesquí alpino, que se practica enpendientes pronunciadas de mon-tañas, con el objetivo de realizarun descenso rápido, siguiendo untrazado sinuoso marcado por unasbalizas especiales llamadas puer-tas.
Algunos de los destinos turísticosaptos para estos estilos son el Ce-rro Bayo, que ofrece cerca de 200hectáreas para la práctica del es-quí en casi todas sus variables, y elCerro Castor, el preferido de losdeportistas internacionales. En sus600 hectáreas de superficieesquiable, ofrece 29 pistas con di-ferentes niveles de dificultad y 10medios de elevación. El terreno cuen-ta con una pista homologada porla Federación Internacional de Es-quí, donde se llevan a cabo com-petencias nacionales e internaciona-les.

Argentina, sede del Interski 2015Por primera vez en la historia, un país del hemisferio sur fue elegido como sede oficialde tan importante evento internacional. El Congreso Mundial de Instructores Interski2015 se realizará del 5 al 12 de septiembre en Cerro Castor, ubicado en Ushuaia,provincia de Tierra del Fuego.Considerado el centro de esquí más austral del mundo, el predio, que fue inauguradoen la temporada invernal de 1999, posee 600 hectáreas esquiables, 29 pistas ycaminos con diferentes niveles de dificultad, un snowpark, un área para principiantesy 10 medios de elevación. Su base está a 195 metros sobre el nivel del mar y la cima,a 1.057 metros.Por sus características, actividades y nivel profesional, Interski es el ámbito másimportante en el que se definen las tendencias y novedades del esquí y el snowboardmundial. A su vez, es un encuentro ideal para compartir y comparar los distintossistemas técnicos y de enseñanza actuales. Las disciplinas que podrán desarrollarseson: esquí, cross country, freestyle, snowboard, esquí adaptado y telemark.

Unatractivo especial es el snowtrack, ar-ticulado con excursiones en la nieve yascensos al volcán donde se practicael esquí libre, con un descenso en tra-vesía fuera de pista de ocho kilóme-tros, desde el cráter hasta la base delcentro.
Con infraestructura de primer niveljunto a sus 140 hectáreas esquiables,el Cerro Chapelco posee todas las va-riables para practicar el esquí alpino,de fondo y de travesía, además delsnowboard y sus habituales exhibicio-nes de half pipe, slalom paralelo, bigair y fun park en el snowboard park.Los menos arriesgados pueden disfru-tar del paisaje nevado desde las mo-tos de nieve y trineos impulsados porperros huskies o siberianos, además delas caminatas con raquetas por la nie-ve recién caída.
El snowboard, que se incorporó alprograma de los Juegos Olímpicos deInvierno en 1998, es otro de los de-portes que se realiza en la mayoríade los centros turísticos. El equipo bási-co para practicarlo está compuesto poruna tabla, las fijaciones y las botas,para deslizarse sobre una pendientecubierta por nieve. No es necesario sa-ber esquiar, ya que esta especialidadrequiere de movimientos completamentedistintos, sencillos y fáciles de apren-der.
Con una adrenalina similar, el esquíextremo consiste en bajar por una mon-taña bastante inclinada y con un terre-no abrupto, sólo con los esquíes. Sedesarrolla en la montaña, fuera deldominio de los centros turísticos, por loque se debe conocer el medio, los tiposde nieves vírgenes, la meteorología ylas técnicas del andinismo.

It can beperformed in plain or wavyterrains, unlike Alpine Skiing,which is performed in steep slope,and whose aim is to glide downfast, following a sinuous waymarked by special gates.

Pocos saben que en La Falda existen unas cavernasque pueden ser visitadas y que constituyen un atracti-vo turístico único. Son las denominadas cavernas El Sau-ce, una singular formación de carbonato de calcio, al-guna vez explotada, que se interconecta formando salasy galerías llenas de estalactitas, estalagmitas y otrascuriosidades que pueden descubrirse en una excursiónguiada por expertos espeleólogos.
Su origen y característicasFue a principios de la década del ’60 cuando, ca-
vando una cantera de carbonato de calcio, se descu-brió una caverna. Sin embargo, se continuó trabajan-do durante bastante tiempo, por lo cual una parte im-portante de la formación fue destruida por la acciónde las máquinas.
A principios de los ’80, la baja rentabilidad de laactividad minera hizo que finalizaran las actividadesen la cantera, cesando su deterioro. A partir de enton-ces, quedaron descubiertas las cuatro bocas que cons-tituyen hoy las cuatro posibles entradas a El Sauce.

RECORRIDO EN LO PROFUNDO DE LA TIERRA
Para quienes gustan de los circuitos no tradicionales, las cavernas El Sauce, en las sierrascordobesas, invitan a internarse en sus profundidades y a descubrir el mundo subterráneo, de lamano de guías especializados.
Es la caverna más larga de la provincia de Córdo-ba, tiene alrededor de 1.000 metros. Allí, la tempera-tura oscila entre 13º y 14º, con una humedad que al-canza el 96%. La altura varía en sus diferentes estan-cias, pero la sima (punto más profundo) se encuentra a26 metros desde la boca del ingreso. La altura deltecho alcanza por momentos los 8 metros, y en algunaspartes es muy bajo.
Aunque no todas las cavernas son aptas para su vi-sita (como por ejemplo aquellas que se encuentran bajoel agua y que pueden ser recorridas solamente porexpertos), las cavernas El Sauce sí lo son. Pero existenalgunas cuestiones que hay que saber antes de deci-dir aventurarse a la experiencia.
Un recorrido para intrépidosLa oscuridad en la caverna es total, por lo que una
vez dentro, es necesaria una breve adaptación antesde emprender la aventura. Los espacios son a vecesmuy amplios, pero por momentos muy reducidos, por loque no es un circuito recomendado para claustrofóbicos.

Al ser un importante ámbito de estudio, se está trabajando en conjunto con la SociedadArgentina de Espeleología de Buenos Aires para instalar en la caverna Los Sauces unlaboratorio de monitoreo, que permitirá desarrollar tareas de medición e investigaciónpara aportar más datos acerca de nuestro pasado geológico.
Se provee de un equipo especial para elespeleoturismo, que consiste en un overol, casco con luzfrontal y guantes, y del acompañamiento por las ga-lerías de un guía que será el encargado de ayudar adescubrir las texturas que caprichosamente formaronel agua y el tiempo por miles de años, las fluorescenciasy otras formaciones que tienen lugar en las distintassalas que componen la caverna, algunas de ellas degran tamaño.
Para los que sean nuevos en la experiencia, existe uncircuito básico que dura aproximadamente una hora.Pero los que deseen una aventura más intensa podrándescender por lugares ocultos para la mayoría de losvisitantes, en un circuito de dos horas y media.
Como si fuera poco, también existe la posibilidadde visitarla de día o de noche. Si bien dentro de lacaverna reina la oscuridad, los guías aseguran que losrecorridos nocturnos tienen otro sabor, descubriendocolores y texturas no imaginadas.
¿Qué son las cavernas?Una caverna es un espacio en la roca que seinterconecta formando galerías y salas. Las hay detodo tipo de minerales: sal, yeso, hielo, etc. Lascavernas Los Sauces son de carbonato de calcio.Se forman por la acción del agua de la lluvia, quepenetra por las fisuras de las rocas, disolviéndolasmuy lentamente, creando así espacios subterrá-neos. A su vez, con el paso del tiempo, son orna-mentados por el fenómeno natural de precipita-ción, que configura espeleotemas, es decir,estalactitas y estalagmitas, un espectáculo sin par.Tienen una temperatura estable que es la mediaanual exterior del lugar y son espacios sumamentereveladores en el ámbito geológico.

FIESTA NACIONAL E INTERNACIONAL DEL PONCHO
La expresión cultural más importante de Catamarca
La provincia se preparapara vivir la XLVº edición deesta celebración, que tendrálugar del 9 al 19 de julio yque congrega a artesanoscatamarqueños, del país ydel exterior.
«Para los catamarqueños es la esencia de sercatamarqueños, es mostrar al país, al mundo y anosotros mismos nuestra identidad y nuestra cultu-ra, que se manifiesta a través de todos los acto-res presentes en la fiesta». Así lo expresa la se-cretaria de Turismo de la provincia de Catamarca,Mlga. Natalia Ponferrada. Y es que la Fiestadel Poncho es, sin dudas, un reconocimiento a losartesanos catamarqueños y del país que durantetodo el año trabajan para exponer sus produc-tos.
En una entrevista con Cambio de Aire,Ponferrada agrega al respecto: «Ellos son losartífices de nuestra cultura y nuestra identidad,quienes generación tras generación van transmi-tiendo las técnicas de la realización de artesaníascomo la textil, la cestería, el trabajo en piedra, elcuero, la orfebrería, y que van de esta maneraconservando y transmitiendo la cultura de años yaños guardada en ellos. Es la manifestación denuestra gastronomía, de nuestra danza, de nues-tra música, de nuestras costumbres, de nuestro sercatamarqueño. Todo eso se concentra en la FiestaNacional e Internacional del Poncho durante diezdías y nueve noches para el disfrute de todos».
Su creación fue inspirada por la necesidad dereivindicar una prenda tan singular, importante yrepresentativa de la Provincia a nivel nacional einternacional, que brilló en las exposiciones mun-diales y sirvió para homenajear a las personali-dades ecuménicas más destacadas que visitaronnuestro país. Se trata del poncho de vicuña, pren-da confeccionada por las manos laboriosas y dies-

tras de las teleras con una materia prima eminente-mente autóctona como es el hilado doméstico.
La Fiesta Nacional del Poncho fue instituida porDecreto H. Nº 1.845 del 30 de Julio de 1954 comoFestival del Tejido Catamarqueño, firmado por elDr. Armando Casas Nóblega y el Dr. Ricardo M.D.Moreno. Uno de sus considerandos expresa: «Queentre todas las industrias regionales, ninguna apa-rece como más auténtica, más característica y mejorlograda que las del tejido, cuya fama está avaladapor su intrínseca calidad, por la excelencia de susatributos y por su alto valor estético». Según cuen-tan las crónicas, «nuestros antepasados solían ha-cer reuniones donde esquilaban llamas, prepara-ban el hilado, tejían, bailaban, comían y bebían…yasí pasaban largos días festejando…»
Desde la 1º Fiesta Nacional del Poncho en el año1967, este evento ha continuado celebrándose to-dos los años, con excepción de algunos en que no se

En 1964 se rindió homenaje al Poncho, las Teleras y los Artesanos durante la semanade la Autonomía de Catamarca. El 12 de Octubre del mismo año se realizó un desfilede ponchos catamarqueños, con la participación de conjuntos folklóricos y comidascriollas en un local de calle Rivadavia.No fue hasta julio de 1967, más específicamente entre los días 5 y 16, que se llevó acabo en la Ciudad de Catamarca la Primera Fiesta Nacional del Poncho. A partir de allíse celebró año a año y durante el mes de julio, en forma coincidente con los FestejosPatrios y las vacaciones que rigen durante el receso escolar de todo el país.
En palabras de la secretariade Turismo de Catamarca,Mlga. Natalia Ponferrada,«la Fiesta es la manifesta-ción de nuestra cultura, de lagastronomía, la danza, lamúsica y las costumbrescatamarqueñas».

En la edición 2015 se está tra-bajando desde el mes de febreroy en articulación con las otras áreasinvolucradas, como Cultura especial-mente. «Ya hemos definido los es-pacios, estamos empezando a ha-cer la convocatoria para los arte-sanos y algunas cuestiones nuevaspara esta edición en cuanto astands de artesanías. Tenemos mu-cha expectativa porque es una fies-ta que va creciendo año a año ysiempre queremos que la ediciónactual supere a la del año ante-rior», relata Ponferrada.
Los números hablan por sí solos.No se puede negar que la granconvocatoria de la misma la con-vierte en la «Fiesta de invierno másgrande de la Argentina», ya quedurante sus diez días de duración,el Valle Central de Catamarca esel lugar elegido por turistas detodo el país para visitar. «En 2014tuvimos 400.000 personas reco-rriendo la feria durante el evento,más o menos unos 40.000 por día»,puntualizó la secretaria de Turismo.
En la Fiesta Nacional e Interna-cional del Poncho no hay sólo arte-sanos de Catamarca sino también«de otras provincias e incluso deotros países que nos visitan y quie-ren participar de este encuentro».Un rasgo distintivo de la misma esque «existe la posibilidad de quela gente tenga un contacto directocon el artesano que es quien vendesus productos, no hay intermedia-rios. Por eso no es sólo es un reco-nocimiento sino una revalorizacióndel trabajo artesanal, donde ellosson los que están ofreciendo su mer-cadería. Its creation was inspired by thenecessity of defending such anoutstanding, important andrepresentative garment in theprovince nationally andinternationally, a garment thatstood out in world expositions andserved as a tribute to the mostrenowned ecumenical personalities
who visited our country. It is abouta vicuna poncho, a garment madeby hard-working and skilledhands, using a completely nativeraw material like domesticspinning.
The National Poncho Fest wasintroduced by Decree H. Nº 1.845of the 30th of July, 1954 as theKnitting Fest of Catamarca, signedby Dr. Armando Casas Nóblegaand Dr. Ricardo M.D. Moreno. Oneof its statements sets: «Among allregional industries, this is the mostauthentic, characteristic and bestachieved one; its fame issupported by its quality, theexcellence of its attributes and itshigh aesthetic value». In 1964, a tribute was paid to the Poncho and the craftsmen during the week of the Autonomy of Catamarca. On October 12th of thesame year, a parade of ponchos from Catamarca took place, with the participation of folk bands and creole food in a shop ofRivadavia Street.It was not up to July 1967, more specifically between the 5th and 16th day, that the First National Poncho Fest took place in the Cityof Catamarca. From that moment on, it was celebrated in July year after year, simultaneously with National Celebrations andwinter school holidays.

From the first National Poncho Fest in 1967, thisevent has been celebrated every year, with theexception of some years when it did not take place,during the last military dictatorship that ruled thecountry.
In the 2015 edition, they have been working sinceFebruary and together with other areas involvedsuch as the Culture area especially. «We havealready defined the places, we are starting to unitethe craftsmen and prepare some new things for thisedition. We have much expectation since this fest isgrowing year after year and we always want thepresent edition to be better than the previous one»,Ponferrada points out.
Numbers talk. It cannot be denied that the greatmeeting makes it the «biggest winter fest in Argenti-na», since the Central Valley of Catamarca is theplace chosen by tourists of all around the country forthese ten days. In 2014 we received 400,000people traveling around the fair during the event,an average of 40,000 people per day», thetourism secretary specified.
In the National and International Poncho Fest, thecraftsmen are not only from Catamarca but alsofrom «other provinces and even from other countrieswho visit us and want to participate in this meeting».A distinctive feature of this fest is that «people canhave a direct contact with the craftsmen who selltheir pieces without an intermediary. That is thereason why it is not only a recognition but also anappreciation of the craftwork, where they areoffering their own products. There are craftsmenwho represent public entities or NGO from otherprovinces or other countries¸ however, 75% of themare people from Catamarca» .

Hace casi diez años, en septiembre de 2005, Maximiliano Guerra pisópor última vez el escenario del Teatro Colón, en el marco de los festejos porlos 80 años del máximo coliseo argentino. Ahora, a meses de haber asumi-do como director del Ballet Estable, el artista debe lidiar con discusionespolíticas y gremiales, que incluyeron una medida de fuerza de los bailari-nes.
En diálogo con Cambio de Aire, uno de los bailarines más im-portantes de la historia de la danza argentina prometió que,durante su gestión, intentará darle mayor proyección in-ternacional a la compañía y aseguró que «quiere quelos bailarines vuelvan a sonreír».
- ¿Qué significa para usted llegar a dirigir el balletdel Teatro Colón?
- Es un honor muy grande, también un desafío quedebe ser tomado con seriedad y responsabilidad.Comparativa y popularmente para que se entien-da, dirigir el Colón es como dirigir la selección(de fútbol). Hay muchas posibilidades parahacer grandes cosas y dejar herramientas decrecimiento. Sé que no será por siempre, poreso debo dar lo máximo para que mi pasopor la dirección no se olvide.
- ¿Qué sentimientos afloraron con su re-greso al teatro, después de tantos años?
- Muchos, sobre todo de la infancia ymis primeros pasos por ese escenario.Tengo muchas memorias lindas en el Tea-tro Colón, de aprendizaje y crecimiento.No sólo aprendí a bailar allí, sino tam-bién a vivir. Desde el arte hasta la amis-tad, del despertar del deseo de hacer lascosas bien hasta el éxito. Fueron tiempos decrecimiento muy importantes, y ahora tengo la po-sibilidad de devolverle al teatro algo de todo aque-llo.
- ¿Qué le gustaría cambiar del ballet? ¿Cuál es suobjetivo en esta nueva tarea como director y cuál es lamarca propia que le gustaría dejar?

...- Me gustaría cambiar la conciencia de trabajo, por
ejemplo, que no sea el dinero que cobran lo quemueve a los artistas, sino el propio deseo de creci-miento artístico. Sería como decir que sean menos ‘sin-dicalistas’. No es que lo sean, pero me gustaría mejo-rar la situación con la que me encontré cuando asumí.Había mucho malestar y descontento entre los artistaspor discusiones gremiales y salariales. Quiero que losbailarines vuelvan a sonreír.
Mi objetivo es llevar a la compañía a un crecimientointernacional más productivo y seductor para grandescoreógrafos. No me propongo dejar una marca pro-pia, creo que eso se dará si hago las cosas bien. Soyconsciente de que voy a cometer errores, porque soyhumano.
- ¿Cómo maneja los conflictos gremiales del teatro?¿Afectan su tarea como director?
Todos los conflictos afectan directamente la tareadel director y, sobre todo, de los artistas. Creo quehay que ser hábil y no dejarse atrapar en esos cam-pos. Hay que buscar soluciones con paciencia y deter-minación, sabiendo que el lugar que uno ocupa es elde mediador entre las partes.
- ¿Qué consejo les daría a aquellos jóvenes que quierenllegar al Colón?
- Que lo deseen fuerte y que se puede, pero que noes el único lugar donde un joven artista se pueda de-sarrollar. Creo que la escuela del Colón hoy en díaestá un poco divorciada del ballet, no sé si sigue sien-do la puerta grande para quien desea comenzar unacarrera, pero no deja de ser la más importante.
- ¿Cómo sigue su tarea con el Ballet del Mercosur?¿Qué proyectos tiene para este año?
- Mis proyectos con el Ballet del Mercosur (que diri-ge desde 1999) siguen intactos, es la compañía con laque quiero seguir bailando y estamos en este momen-to armando una nueva producción que será magnifica.
Dirigir ese ballet tiene mucho de adrenalínico y de se-ducción creativa. Bailar con Patricia Baca Urquiza, miesposa, es lo que más me gratifica como artista. Hedejado de entrenar como lo venía haciendo, pero nun-ca dije que dejaría de bailar.
- ¿Pensó en su retiro? ¿Tiene algún sueño sin cumplir?- No, no pienso en mi retiro aún. Sueños tengo mu-
chos, pero son sueños, y como mi carrera siempre mesorprendió, sigo soñando y logrando nuevas metassiempre.
- ¿Cómo ve la danza argentina en comparación con ladel extranjero?
- En general la veo bien, hemos perdido terreno enLatinoamérica, pero se puede recuperar. Argentinapobló y puebla de bailarines el mundo .

Almost ten years ago, inSeptember 2005, MaximilianoGuerra was on the stage of theTeatro Colón for the last timecelebrating the 80th birthday ofthe Maximum Argentine Colliseum.A few months later after havingtaken the position of director ofthe Permanent Ballet Company, theartist has to deal with politicaland trade union arguments.
In an interview with Cambio deAire, one of the most importantdancers of the Argentine dancehistory promised to try to give thecompany a greater internationalprojection during his managementand he assured that he «wantsdancers to smile again».
- What does it mean for you todirect the ballet of the TeatroColón?
-It is such a great honor as well
as a challenge that must be takenseriously and responsibly. Inpopular terms, and as acomparison, to direct the TeatroColón is like to direct the footballselection. There are manypossibilities to do big things andleave tools for growth. I know itwill not be forever, that is why Imust give the best for mymanagement to be unforgettable.
-Which feelings arise with yourreturn to the theater after so manyyears?
Many feelings, especially thoserelated to my childhood and myfirst steps on this stage. I have somany nice memories of learningand growth at the Teatro Colón. Ilearnt not only to dance here, butalso to live: from art to friendship,from the wish of doing things wellto success. They were very
important times of growth, andnow I have the chance to givesomething of all that back to thetheater.
- What would you like to changein ballet? What is your goal in thisnew task as a director and what isthe mark that you would like toleave?
-I´d like to change theconsciousness of work, for instance,I wish it was not the money thatmoves the artists, but the desirefor artistic growth. I´d like tochange the situation I had to facewhen I started. There was muchdissatisfaction and annoyanceamong the artists due todisagreement about salaries andtrade unions. I want dancers tosmile again.

- How do you deal with the tradeunions conflicts in the theater? Dothey affect your task as a director?
- Every conflict affects directlythe task of the director, andabove all, of the artists. I think onehas to be smart and has to try notto get involved in those things. Youhave to find solutions patientlyand with determination, knowingthat your place is that of amediator between the parts.
- Which piece of advice wouldyou give those young people whowant to reach the Teatro Colón?
- I would tell them to desire it
strongly, it is possible; however, itis not the only place an artist candevelop himself. I think that theschool of the Teatro Colón is a bitdivorced from ballet today, Idon´t know whether it is the bigentrance for that who wants tostart a career, but it is still themost important one.
-How are you doing with theMercosur Ballet? What projects doyou have for this time of the year?
- My projects with the MercosurBallet (which he directs since1999) remain intact, it is thecompany with which I still want tokeep on dancing and now we aremaking a new production that willbe magnificent. Directing thisballet means pure adrenalin andcreative seduction. Dancing withPatricia Baca Urquiza, my wife, iswhat rewards me the most as anartist. I´ve stopped training as Iused to do, but I never said Iwould stop dancing
- Have you thought of retiring?Do you have a dream to fulfill?
- No, I haven´t thought ofretiring yet. I have many dreams,but they are dreams, and since mycareer has always surprised me, Ikeep on dreaming and settingnew goals.
-How is the Argentine dance incomparison with the danceabroad?
-I think it is good in general, wehave fallen behind in LatinAmerica, but we can get it over.The world is full of Argentinedancers .
