PataIDAbstractSince time in memorial, there have been considerable rise in the number of lost identification cards in our country. The cards include: National identity cards, Passports, ATM cards, Alien ID’s, Driver’s license, the most recent BebaPay cards and other relevant transaction cards. It is estimated that at least 75% of all persons of the age of majority have lost identification cards more than twice with the resultant effect, enormous cost are suffered towards replacement of lost identity cards not only by the said persons but also by the government. As a consequence whereof the government has had to establish such structures such like the now famous ‘HUDUMA CENTERS’ throughout the Republic at least for purposes of replacing lost and unfound lost identification cards.These centers are not without any shortcomings for instance, they continue to experience long discouraging queues with a lot of time wastage which has a greater negative effect in business and the economy in total.Due to the numerous problems experienced, we have come up with an innovation/technological solution to greatly minimize the problems encountered by both public and the government. This solution is structured on the use an SMS based platform which essentially integrates with a service provider i.e. Equitel , Airtel, Orange, Telkom, YU mobile, Safaricom and which in turn enables the affected persons who have lost their identification cards to find them in a most secure environment bearing in mind the solution is security based oriented. Most importantly, the solution is triple effective first, to the Public, secondly to the service providers and thirdly to the government with the net effect that the government will reduce enormous resources incurred towards replacing lost identity cards and thus reducing the long queues experienced in the foresaid centers.
