She comes from The San Francisco Bay Area. She served on the board of the Contra Costa Musical Theatre for four years before moving to Costa Rica as a full time resi-dent two years ago. Looking back, she feels her role as “Kim Kim the Jungle Girl” on cable television foreshadowed her life in the jungle. She is now a board member with us here.

Nansie has brought generations of expe-rience with her. Growing up in a theatri-cal and musical family, her mother was a vaudeville performer among other fam-ily members in the business and now two of her own children work behind the scenes in Hollywood.

The Process of Art

There are so many things that go into putting on a live production. It’s a col-laborative process and you have to be able to go with the creative flow and know how to trust that each person can and will pull through. Everybody has something valuable to offer and we can all learn something from one another.

The performance is the outcome of the pre show work so let’s not forget all the people behind the scenes involved in getting the show on the stage and ready for the audience.

Estimados amigos de CAP

Dear CAP Friends

During your stay here, do not contact unknown people or stay alone in isolated areas. When swimming or playing in the ocean, make sure someone is watching your valuables. When in restaurants, markets or public areas NEVER leave your valu-ables unattended. When you travel by car, always lock the doors, and never leave your personal items in sight. When staying in hotels, we recommend that you always use the safety boxes to keep cash, jewels, and documents protected. We highly recommend that all tourists photocopy their documents (identification, plane tickets, passports and credit cards) in order to facilitate the retrieval of any lost items.Use caution when visiting isolated beaches.Be aware of your surroundings and know WHERE you are at all times. Please know enough Spanish to be able to communicate your loca-tion in the event of an emergency and thereby save valuable time in receiving help. These precautions are necessary throughout your travels in all of Costa Rica

CAP (Crime Awareness and Prevention) has had a very successful year by build-ing community, heightening awareness, sponsoring community presentations, implementing surveillance cameras, and building relationships with many local and higher ranking Costa Rican law enforcement officials which has en-couraged a higher standard that many are embracing. Many more initiatives are ready to implement as more funds are raised. Our goal has always been to minimize crime in our region by being informed and proactive in our commu-nities.

Crimes are still a serious concern and as the holiday season approaches we want to remind everyone of some very important things to remember to pre-vent unwanted situations and to make your stay in the Southern Zone as enjoy-able as possible
