HOLY FAITH EPISCOPAL CHURCH
A MULTICULTURAL CONGREGATION WORSHIPPING GOD
Our Mission is to:
Seek and serve God, uniting with each other in our diver-sity, through Jesus Christ, to achieve a common goal, and to equip disciples to fulfill His Mission.
Our vision is to:
Worship God through Je-sus Christ, celebrate our cultural and spiritual diver-sities using the AnglicanE-piscopal Liturgy, as our worship tool, making disci-ples to spread the gospel.
FROM THE VICAR’S DESK
The Bible has been the source of study and interpretation of God’s Word and God’s History of sal-
vation for many centuries. It has been the cause of division among believers who seems not able to
find a common ground on its interpretation and it has given birth to the proliferation of several Chris-
tian denominations around the world. However, with all these interpretations the Word of God still
remains unchanged
A dramatic attempt to change the Bible took place in the second century. Around 144 A.D,
Marcion, the son of bishop of Sinope in Pontus, developed an unusual understanding of the Chris-
tian faith that was anti-Jewish and anti-material. Marcion believed that the God and Father of Jesus is
not the same God of the Old Testament. He concluded that the Old Testament God created hu-
mans out of either “ignorance or out of an evil intent” while the Father in the New Testament was
more concern with the spiritual world. Due to his misinterpretation of the Word of God, he deleted
from the New Testament all references to Judaism or to the Old Testament, because he disagreed
with what the Bible has to say on these matters. Marcion was excommunicated from the church and
his interpretation of the Bible was condemned as heresy.
There are two strong groups within the Christian community that are in constant tension.
The first one believes that the words written in the Bible are literally the Word of God, and that hu-
mans had nothing to do with its content, except to be the vessel through which God used to convey
his message to the world.
Some Biblical examples that support this theory are found in the following passages; Exodus
17:14 “Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered.” Jer-
emiah 30:2 “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Write in a book all the words I have
spoken to you.” Revelation 21:5 “Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy
and true.”
The second group believes that the words written in the Bible are not God’s Word, but an
interpretation of His word. They argue that the events and stories were written by men and women
who were heavily influenced by the culture of the time. They base their theory on historical fact and
on modern scientific tools of investigation and not on faith. Their goal is to disprove what the Bible
has been teaching believers and they will not give up until they destroy the faith and the church left
behind by Christ and the Apostles. An example of this theory can be found in the many books pub-
lished by Biblical scholars of the “Jesus Seminar.” These are modern scholars who claim to be in the
“Quest of the Historical Jesus.” Their intention is to remove the divine presence from the Bible and
make it look as though it was written by humans and not dictated by God.
There has been many people in the history of human kind that have tried to change the
word of God in order to adapt the book to their own desire, and had failed. We may interpret what is
written in the Bible, but we cannot change what has been written by God. Jesus says “For truly, I say
to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is ac-
complished.” Matthew 5:18. Therefore, we should not attempt to change God’s word in any shape or
form. This could be dangerous. If we do so, we will be walking away from God, the Christian faith
and the Christian tradition.

Instead Of Complaining, Change!
Let us examine our ways and test them Lamentations 3:40 NIV
One child complains about the other: 'Mommy, he hit me!' She's convinced it's her brother's
fault, that he ought to be punished, that she should have Mom's sympathy and be absolved
of all responsibility. But her brother is equally certain: 'She started it. She took my toy.' We grow older, but not always wiser! It 'just hap-
pened', we say, then proceed to blame people and circumstances. We dance to the tune but we don't want to pay the piper, so we complain
about our consequences, saying it wasn't our fault. This is not the way God does business,
and it doesn't work. 'Why should any living man complain when punished for his sins?' (v. 39 NIV). What works with God is this.: First,
acknowledge your wrong behavior. Someone else may have initiated it, but your part in it is your responsibility. Plus, complaining offends
God. '... The people complained... in the hearing of the Lord, and... his anger was
aroused' (Numbers 11:1 NIV). Leave other peo-ple's sin to God and deal with your own. Sec-ond, look at your behaviors; 'Let us examine our
ways... ' Look beyond this specific event to how you typically act in similar situations. Learn
from it, so you can change! Third, determine whether your ways really work; 'Let us... test them... ' Analyze, observe and judge how well
your 'ways' have actually worked - or not! Final-ly, if they don't work, change them; '... Let us return to the Lord' (Lamentations 3:40 NIV).
Repeating wrong behaviors guarantees contin-ued failure. Returning to doing things God's
way, brings the end of frustration and the be-ginning of joy and fulfillment! Bob Gass – The Word for Today – The Vine
En lugar de quejarse, ¡cambie!
Examinemos nuestras maneras y pongámoslas a prueba
Lamentaciones 3:40 NVI
guete.” ¡Estamos creciendo, pero no siempre más sabios!
“Simplemente sucedió:”, decimos, y luego procedemos a
gocia, y no funciona.
sabilidad. Además, quejarse ofende a Dios. “...
maneras; Vamos a ponerlo a prueba... Analizar, obser-
mente – o si no!
comportamientos garantiza falta continua. Volver a hacer

HOLY FAITH MEMORIAL GARDEN AND COLUMBARIUM
“ASLEEP IN THE CHURCH YARD”
The renewal of an ancient custom, it has been said, “Don’t be buried from the church be buried in the church”, or
in our case in Holy Faith’s Memorial Garden. Years ago most churches had church cemeteries, however now that
cremation is acceptable we have the Columbarium for the internment of ashes.
Holy Faith Memorial Garden Columbarium was established in 1980, with 128 niches. Each niche will contain
your ashes, or that your loved ones. The Columbarium is constructed of concrete, similar to that of a vault, and is
encased in marble and bronze for complete permanency.
There are nameplates for each niche, on which the name, date of birth, date of death, and any symbol can be
inscribed.
Our Memorial Garden and Columbarium is located in a secluded spot adjacent to Shenandoah Hall, enclosed by
a solar block wall and trees creating a place for meditation and there are benches where one can sit in peace, to
be near their love one
Visit our Memorial Garden at your convenience and experience its tranquil atmosphere, truly an asset to our
church grounds. There are niches available for purchase. A single niche cost $600, and a double cost $1000. The
price includes container or urn, inscription on the bronze enclosure; internment and perpetual care, there are no
additional costs. This facility is available to the community, not just the members and friends of Holy Faith.

Orlando Addison’s newest bi-lingual collection of poems, Afro-Latin
Song, seeks a balance between voice and soul, song and rhythm pro-
duced by African blood, containing as it does emotional, romantic
verses and poems with social commentary. This work introduces a
new voice in Honduran and Latin American literature, a voice that
represents the growing minority of Afrolatinos on the hemisphere.
This second collection of poems reflects Addison’s poetic and liter-
ary maturity and his commitment to his people, to the Afro Hondu-
ran and Afro-Latin communities.
______________
