How does the skin age?
Characteristics of young skin
– A thick outer layer– Skin is resilient– Many elastic fibers in the deeper layers– Skin is plump & flexible– Pores are tight
Characteristics of mature skin
– A thinner outer layer– Fewer elastic fibers in the deeper skin –
layers become loose – The skin is less flexible & loses resilience– Pronounced creases & wrinkles develop– The blood vessels in the skin are less elastic –
even minor injuries can cause bruising

Dehydration
Dehydrated skin is a sign of intrinsic aging and is the normal process of physical change over time; related more to genetics than lifestyle. Lifestyle-induced aging is known as premature or extrinsic aging. Sebaceous gland activity tends to decrease with age, and the skin’s natural hydrators decline over time. The skin’s ability to regenerate lipids comprising the protective lipid barrier layer of the stratum corneum also declines with age, as does blood flow to the skin, which may cause a drop in sebum production .1
Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Repetitive facial movements lead to fine lines and wrin-kles. Each time a facial muscle is used, a groove forms beneath the surface of the skin, resulting in lines form-ing with each facial expression. As skin ages and loses its elasticity, the skin stops springing back to its line-free state, and these grooves become permanently etched on the face as fine lines and wrinkles.2
Skin Discoloration
Changes in skin color are often associated with aging. Skin color is a composite of red, blue, yellow and brown. This is the result of red oxygenated hemoglobin, yellow carotenoids and flavins and the brown melanin pigment of our skin. Hyperpigmentation spots are due to erratic melanocyte activity that is the result of cumulative Ultravi-olet (UV) light. This is often associated with hypopigmen-tation (white spots), which can also accompany aging. The result is a mottled, older skin appearance made up of darker and de-pigmented areas .3
Large Pores
Every month, skin gradually goes through a natural shed-ding process known as desquamation – which remains consistent until the age of 30. Dead skin, oils and debris that sit on the surface of the skin will often become trapped inside pores. Because skin is quite elastic, the pores ex-pand in order to accommodate that excess matter.
From the age of 30 onwards, skin continues to renew itself but it takes a little longer than a month to do so. Due to the slowing of that natural shedding process, the excess skin, oils and debris remain trapped in the pores and continue to build up, causing the pores to expand and making them appear much larger than they actually are.4
Loss of Elasticity – Breakdown of Collagen and Elastin
The majority of age-dependent change that affects the skin happens in the dermis, which can lose 20-80% of its thickness during the aging process. This is the result of changes in the fibroblasts, the cells responsible for colla-gen, elastin and glycosaminoglycan (GAG) biosynthesis. Not only is the collagen and elastin produced at a slower rate, which impacts the skin’s ability to repair itself, but the organization of the protein also changes, affecting the skin’s structure.
The breakdown of collagen and elastin is controlled by the activity of Matrix Metalloproteinase (MMP) enzymes known as collagenase and elastase, respectively. Studies have shown that UV radiation activates these enzymes within hours of UVB exposure. Prolonged exposure to sunlight results in disorganized and clumped collagen and elastin that is characteristic of photodamaged skin.5
Key signs of skin aging
Day 0 Day 28
Day 0 Day 28
Daily cleansing routine
Skin becomes much drier as it matures and a cleansing routine that worked previously, may not be right for ma-turing skin. It is therefore important to find a daily cleanser that works effectively whilst not stripping the skin of too much moisture.
Water
At any age, water is essential to the health of the body. Drinking enough water can help keep the body function-ing efficiently and can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. As skin matures it becomes much drier and keeping it hydrated is key to looking youthful. Effective moisturizers with hydrating ingredients that help to ‘lock in’ moisture are also recommended.
Face Mask / Exfoliation
Once or twice a week, exfoliation and use of a face mask to hydrate and draw dirt and oil out from the skin can re-duce pore size. Regular exfoliation is key to keeping pores clean and appearing smaller – especially in mature skin.
Daily SPF
Age related sun damage such as pigmentation and loose or slackened skin is preventable by using a daily SPF. It’s never too late to prevent further damage and aging related to sun exposure.
Peptides
Peptides are proteins composed of long or short chains of amino acids, or the building blocks of protein.
Peptides can stimulate new cells to grow and help skin cells to heal. They work by stimulating the replacement of collagen, elastin, and other components that diminish during the aging process.
Retinoids
Retinol, a natural form of vitamin A boosts the thickness and elasticity of the skin and is seen as a reliable method for fighting signs of aging.
Anti-oxidants
Anti-oxidants are widely known to fight internal cell dam-age from free radicals that can injure cells, increase in-flammation and cause skin to look aged.Substances with anti-oxidant properties include beta-carotene, lycopene, selenium, and vitamins A, C and E.

Switzerland has a long tradition of cellular therapy with people from all over the world visiting Swiss clinics to receive reju-
venating & anti-aging treatments. With Active Cellular Regenerating Complex Generation 2 (ACR G2), Skincode Exclusive
follows this long practiced tradition.
ACR complex G2 is the key ingredient in all Exclusive products and combines a peptide complex that interacts with key
proteins in the skin. The structure and functional integrity of the skin starts to change around the age of 30 and this complex
helps to stimulate these proteins for an outstanding anti-aging effect.
The Skincode Exclusive anti-aging range includes all the essential products needed to take care of the skin and slow down
the signs of aging; from cleansers, moisturizers with SPF, masks and skin refining products.
ACR Complex G2 – a critical anti-aging
ingredient in all Exclusive products
Paraben free – Allergen-free fragrance – with ACR G2 – Dermatologist tested – Not tested on animals
ACR COMPLEX G2: A winning combination
ACR G2 is comprised of 2 complexes working in syn-
ergy to restore the epidermal junction & to compen-
sate the skin’s functions, which slow down with age.
Syn®-Tacks A blend of Tripeptide & Tetrapeptide-7
– Increases cellular communication
– Improve epidermal nourishment to reduce wrinkles
– Increases skin tonicity & firmness
– Improves skin compactness
Soyaglycone Is a type of preparation that resembles
the Genistein in the human body. It is a natural pow-
erful collagen booster that is able to penetrate deeply
into the skin. It delivers a visible lift & reduces the ap-
pearance of lines & wrinkles. Studies show a visible
improvement in compactness, reduced wrinkles & an
increase in skin tonicity & firmness.
