1.0 INTRODUCTION1.0 INTRODUCTION- A flood occurs when water overflows the land that's normally dry. This can happen in a
multitude of ways. Most common is when rivers or streams overflow their banks.
- Moving water has awesome damaging power.
- Bridges, houses, trees, and cars can be picked up and carried off
- The erosive force of moving water can drag dirt from under a building's foundation, causing i
to crack and tumble.
- Changes in rainfall patterns and rises in sea levels resulting from climate change may make
such flooding incidents more freuent and severe in the future.
- we cannot prevent the climatic causes of flooding, we can take measures to prepare for it and
reduce the resulting damage

1) THE CONTINOUS OF HEAVY RAINFALL
The rain continued without stopping would cause flooding. n lowlying areas, rain water will flo
8rainage filled with water will spill out, causing lowlying areas flooded.
2) DRAINAGE SYSTEM
The drainage system is not planned well. !loods that often hit the place due to lack of drainage sy
too small and shallow. The amount of water causes the water to spill out of the ditch caused a fl
that supposed to channel the water is also not maintained by the authorities.
3) LOW-LYING AREA AND TYPES OF SOIL
3ur study area is considered as lowlying area as the level is lower that the roadside. This is on
causing flood to occur. !urthermore, our study area is located near the palm tree plantations. The t

4) IMPERVIOUS AREA
The natural surface has been converted to impervious surfaces such as cement, tar, concrete and s
can not be absorbed as it should, the water will take time to flow into the drainage system. Then,
volume of water that flows rapidly will cause a drainage system full. The drainage system can
volume of water and cause water to spill out. This can cause flash flood to happen even when the
time.
5) WASTE LITTERING
The cause that can be attributed other than the four e/isting factors is waste littering by pe
responsible. Although this is not a ma"or cause, but we found out that this factor is also contribute
flooding in our study area. Through our observations, the waste in our study area is at a low
satisfactory. 7e can see the waste that should not be there. t looks like the trenches and ditches w
debris could interfere the water flow and current observations made we found that the water
smoothly because of restrictions or ob"ects :debris; that prevents the flow of water
