APLICACIONESLas ecuaciones cuadráticas a veces se usan para modelar situaciones o relaciones en los negocios, en la ciencia y en la medicina. Un uso común en los negocios es maximizar las ganancias, es decir, la diferencia entre los ingresos (dinero que entra) y los costos de producción (dinero gastado).
Ejemplo: La fórmula de la ganancia en una empresa es P(s) = -20s2+1400s-12000 , donde s representa el precio de venta. Calcular el precio de venta que nos genera la mayor ganancia, la cual es $12 500.
Resolviendo la ecuación:-20s2+1400s-12000 = 12500
Obtenemos s = 35
Es decir que se obtendrá una ganancia máxima de $12 500 cuando el precio de venta sea de $35
