This is mainly intended to help people whoare victims of any catastrophe

It includes the identification of people who

are alive only and the number of peoplewho are alive is obtained.

This information is useful during rescueoperations

Many lives could be saved easily and thisproject is also quite cheap when comparedto its use

    PIR sensorPIR sensor

APassive Infrared sensor (PIR sensor) is an

electronic device which measures infrared light radiating

from objects in its field of view. PIR sensors are often

used in the construction ofPIR-basedmotion detectors

(see below).Apparent motion is detected when aninfrared source with one temperature, such as a human,

passes in front of an infrared source with another

    temperature, such as a wall.[1]

All objects emit what is known as black body radiation. This energy is invisible to the human eye but can be

detected by electronic devices designed for such a

purpose. The termpassive in this instance means the

PIR sensor does not emit energy of any type but merely

    passively accepts incoming infrared radiation.

    The design enables the

    construction of lenses of

    large aperture and short

    focal length without the

weight and volume ofmaterial which would be

    required in conventional

    lens design. Compared

to earlier lenses, theFresnel lens is much

    thinner, thus passing

    more light

Why Use a PIR SensorWhy Use a PIR Sensor

While a number of technologies for motion detectionexist, including ultrasonic and microwave radiationsensors, the PIR sensor is popular for its ease-of-setupand high performance. In addition, PIR sensors areinexpensive and draw little power.

Future Electronics expects the rate of adoption of P

IRsensors to grow fast, with applications such as

surveillance and alarm systems, as well as power savingdevices, driving increased usage.

Future Electronics, a broad line component distributor, can supply every component required in a PIR sensor

system, including PIR sensors, lenses, discretecomponents, microcontrollers and PSoC devices. FutureElectronics FAEs can provide customers with technicalsupport in the implementation of PIR sensor systemdesigns

    This sensor picks up

    signals from livehumans only.

    Humans emit IR

    radiation at a

    wavelength of(8-14)

    micrometers.

    Only this range is

    picked up by thesensor

The signals from thesensor is transmitted

    using a radio-frequency

    transmitter and is

    received using a radio-

    frequency receiver

    The PIC is a

    has anADC and a built-

    ConclusionConclusion

Thus, this system plays a vital role in

many fields and it has vast applications in

electronic oriented research areas and in

defense purposes. Now-a-days, research of extra-terrestrial

objects are also carried out by this system

because of its reliability and effectiveness. In future, this system would of major

    importance in many fields.
