tatutory re=uirements are those re=uirements which are applicable by virtue of law enacted
by the government. These re=uirements are non8negotiable and must be compiled with.
:ailure to comply a legal re=uirement may result in a fine or penalty or possibly a custodial
sentence for the person or persons responsible for such failure. tatutory refers to the laws
passed by a state and>or central government.
#ccordingly, the organi;ation should have a methodology in place ?i@ for determining,
maintaining and updating all statutory re=uirements, ?ii@ for communicating all applicable
statutory re=uirements within the organi;ation. The organi;ation should ensure that
determined statutory re=uirements are utili;ed as A rocess Inputs . The organi;ation should
monitor A rocess )utputs for compliance with statutory re=uirements.
It should be the responsibility of the personnel>departments concerned to meet these
determined re=uirements. The top management should also review at defined intervals
meeting applicable statutory re=uirements.
It will be a good idea that the auditor during the audit preparation phase obtains relevant
information from internal as well as e2ternal sources with respect to the statutory
re=uirements that may apply to the organi;ation and its product, such as, legal re=uirements
related to health, safety and environment. #n internal auditor can find the compliance during
audit process by in=uiring to the following
hether the organi;ation has determined applicable statutory re=uirements related to
the productD hat are the determined applicable statutory re=uirementsD *ow the organi;ation"s people are communicated the importance of meeting statutory
re=uirementsD hether the determined statutory re=uirements are utili;ed as process inputs in
determination of re=uirements related to the product and also in reviewing design and

SUGGESTIONS
Based on my study, I would suggest that * C! should use an upgraded technology to
ensure smooth functioning of the terminal.
* C! should reduce the lead time ?e2cess time@ re=uired to fill the tan9s. Changing
from traditional practices to the automation, it will be easy to deliver accurate product
to the customer on demanded time. This will also help them to improve productivity
and performance.
#s * C! is considered to be the best of all petroleum terminals, it should ensure that
the rules and regulations are followed up to the best possible level 9eeping into mindthe welfare of *uman safety and 5nvironment protection.
* C! can underta9e C R pro4ects relating to 5nvironment protection. # step to

CONCLUSION
e understand that compliance protects *uman health and the 5nvironment by improving
environmental behavior through statutory and non8statutory means. This survey shows that* C! gives &--Q importance to the guidelines assigned by the )il Industry afety
3irectorate ?)I 3@ and etroleum 52plosive afety )rgani;ation ? 5 )@.
Through this survey we understand that *uman safety and 5nvironment protection has more
importance in every petroleum and oil industry which should be aim of every man9ind to
protect the wellness of society. ith this mission * C! running its activities of guiding their
employees with periodical sessions and training on human safety and environment protection.
:or that they also organi;e C R activities, employment training, safety training and healthmeasure.
Through this report we came to 9now about the different acts and rules which need to be
followed before starting or setting a petroleum plant. e studied about the different types of
petroleum products and their uses. e understood the importance of safety and their benefits
to the human and environment as well. e studied about the different licenses and certificates
re=uired for every segment of the business i.e. licenses from the point of view of )wner,
Customer and the training and safety certificates to the truc9 drivers. e analy;ed the
different activities performed at petroleum terminal from refining to storage and from storage
to the supply of product to customer.
o finally, I would li9e to conclude that the tatutory Compliance provides the legal
framewor9 which assist in enhancing the relationship between the employees and employers
of an organi;ation. tatutory Compliance is the 9ey priority of all organi;ation as it helps an
organi;ation to meet its legal obligations and standards.
