tus órdenes. Protégenos a nosotros y a toda tu gente

durante esta temporada de tormentas y huracanes.

Calma nuestros miedos y ayúdanos a preparar nuestros

corazones y nuestros hogares. Ayúdanos a verte en todo

lo que podamos encontrar, y ayúdanos a atender las

necesidades del uno al otro en tu nombre. Te lo pedimos

por Cristo nuestro Señor, Amén.

Durante la temporada de huracan todos debemos estar

al tanto y permanecer preparados. Como norma,

queremos recordarles que la polıtica de la Iglesia, para

mayor seguridad de todos, es que cuando el servıcio

meteorologico noti�ique que estamos en estado de

Peligro de Huracan TODAS las actividades Liturgicas

estan automaticamente canceladas. Cuando el estado

de “Peligro” cese, entonces trataremos de resumir

nuestras funciones y actividades liturgicas segun las

normas de la Iglesia. Por favor presten atencion a los avisos de los servicios

meteorologicos para asi no poner sus vidas en peligro

cuando vengan a adorar a nuestro Senor en su Casa. Bendiciones y que el Senor nos acompane.

Father, all the elements of nature obey your commands.

Protect us, and all your people during this season of

storms and hurricanes. Calm our fears, and help us to

prepare our hearts as well as our homes. Help us to see

you in all we may encounter, and help us to minister to

each other inyour name. We ask this through Christ our

Lord, Amen.

During hurricane season we all need to be vigilant and

remain prepared. We wish to remind all that the

Church’s policy, for the safety of all concern, is that as

soon as a Hurricane Warning is posted by the weather

service ALL liturgical activities are automatically

cancelled. As soon as the weather service lifts the state

of “Warning,” we shall attempt to resume our normal

liturgical functions. Please be tuned to your weather channel updates so as

not to place your life in peril in coming to worship in

the House of God. Many blessings and please be safe.

Re�lexióndelEvangelio: Marcos6:7-13

El Evangelio de esta semana y el de la semana próxima describen cómo Jesús envió a los discípulos a predicar en su nombre y el regreso de los discípulos a Jesús después. Estos dos pasajes, sin embargo, no se presentan juntos en el Evangelio de Marcos. Insertado entre los dos está el informe de los temores de Herodes de que Jesús es Juan el Bautista de vuelta de entre los muertos. En el Evangelio de Marcos, el ministerio de Jesús se presenta en relación con la enseñanza de Juan el Bautista. El ministerio público de Jesús comienza después de que Juan es arrestado. Juan el Bautista preparó el camino para Jesús, quien predicó el cumplimiento del Reino de Dios.

Si bien no leemos estos detalles sobre Juan el Bautista en nuestro Evangelio esta semana o la próxima, nuestra secuencia del Leccionario se mantiene consistente con el tema de Marcos. Recordemos que la semana pasada escuchamos cómo Jesús fue rechazado en su ciudad natal de Nazaret. La inserción del recordatorio sobre el ministerio de Juan el Bautista y su muerte a manos de Herodes en el Evangelio de Marcos hace una observación similar. Marcos les recuerda a sus lectores sobre este contexto peligroso para el ministerio de Jesús y el de sus discípulos. Predicar el arrepentimiento y el Reino de Dios es un asunto peligroso para Jesús y sus discípulos. Marcos quiere que sus lectores recuerden que nosotros también podemos encontrar resistencia cuando elegimos ser discípulos de Jesús.

El Evangelio de Marcos nos dice que Jesús envió a los Doce. Estos doce fueron seleccionados entre los discípulos de Jesús y nombrados por Marcos en el capítulo 3. Marcos señala que estos doce también son llamados "apóstoles". La palabra apóstol significa "uno que es enviado". El número doce es también un número simbólico, que representa las doce tribus de Israel. Al nombrar a doce apóstoles, Jesús muestra su misión de estar en continuidad con la misión del pueblo de Dios, Israel.

Las instrucciones de Jesús a los apóstoles son muy específicas. Él repite la misión de que son enviados a predicar y compartir su autoridad para sanar y expulsar demonios. GospelRe�lection: Mark6:7-13

This week’s Gospel and the one for next week describe how Jesus sent the disciples to minister in his name and the disciples’ return to Jesus afterward. These two passages, however, are not presented together in Mark’s Gospel. Inserted between the two is the report of Herod’s fears that Jesus is John the Baptist back from the dead. In Mark’s Gospel, Jesus’ ministry is presented in connection with the teaching of John the Baptist. Jesus’ public ministry begins after John is arrested. John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus, who preached the fulfillment of the Kingdom of God.

While we do not read these details about John the Baptist in our Gospel this week or next week, our Lectionary sequence stays consistent with Mark’s theme. Recall that last week we heard how Jesus was rejected in his hometown of Nazareth. The insertion of the reminder about John the Baptist’s ministry and his death at the hands of Herod in Mark’s Gospel makes a similar point. Mark reminds his readers about this dangerous context for Jesus’ ministry and that of his disciples. Preaching repentance and the Kingdom of God is dangerous business for Jesus and for his disciples. Mark wants his readers to remember that we, too, may find resistance as we choose to be disciples of Jesus.

Mark’s Gospel tells us that Jesus sent out the Twelve. These twelve were selected from among Jesus’ disciples and named by Mark in chapter 3. Mark notes that these twelve are also called “apostles.” The word apostle means “one who is sent.” The number twelve is also a symbolic number, representing the twelve tribes of Israel. By naming twelve apostles, Jesus shows his mission to be in continuity with the mission of God’s people, Israel.

Jesus’ instructions to the apostles are very specific. He repeats the mission that they are sent to preach and to share his authority to heal and to drive out demons. Jesus sends them in pairs, establishing his mission as a communal endeavor. Jesus also instructs them to travel lightly, without the customary food, money, and extra set of clothes. These instructions mean that the Twelve will be dependent on the hospitality of others, just as Jesus depended on others to provide for his needs.

Jesus continues to send us into the world as his disciples. But like the first disciples, we are not sent alone. Jesus has given us the community of the Church, which strengthens our life of discipleship. The Christian message can only authentically be proclaimed in and through the community of faith that is the Church. In our work with others, we build this community of faith and can invite others to share in it.
