Nuestras primeras reuniones de presentación de planes y proyectos para el servicio en el SPLA en el 2005 en Querétaro, México, las visitas misioneras de ellos a los países como Bolivia, Paraguay, entre otros, la reunión de la Zona III en Curitiba, Brasil cuando eran Presidentes Eduardo e Ismari, así como estas otras más, todas estas reuniones llenas de acción apostólica, fervor misionero y alegría, llenas de carencias económicas, pero llenas del espíritu del discipulado misionero.Our first meetings to present plans and projects for the service in the SPLA in 2005 in Queretaro, Mexico, the missionary visits to countries such as Bolivia, Paraguay, among others, the meeting of the Zone III in Curitiba, Brazil when Eduardo and Ismari were Presidents, as others ones as theses, all these meetings full of apostolic activity and missionary fervor and joy, full of economic hardships, but full of the spirit of missionary discipleship.

No a la acedia egoístaNo to selfishness and spiritual sloth

81. Cuando más necesitamos un dinamismo misionero que lleve sal y luz al mundo, muchos laicos sienten el temor de que alguien les invite a realizar alguna tarea apostólica, y tratan de escapar de cualquier compromiso que les pueda quitar su tiempo libre. Hoy se ha vuelto muy difícil, por ejemplo, conseguir catequistas capacitados para las parroquias y que perseveren en la tarea durante varios años. Pero algo semejante sucede con los sacerdotes, que cuidan conobsesión su tiempo personal. Esto frecuentemente se debe a que las personas necesitan imperiosamente preservar sus espacios de autonomía, como si una tarea evangelizadora fuera un veneno peligroso y no una alegre respuesta al amor de Dios que nos convoca a la misión y nos vuelve plenos y fecundos. Algunos se resisten a probar hasta el fondo el gusto de la misión y quedan sumidos en una acedia paralizante.

81. At a time when we most need a missionary dynamism which will bring salt and light to the world, many lay peoplefear that they may be asked to undertake some apostolic work and they seek to avoid any responsibility that may takeaway from their free time. For example, it has become very difficult today to find trained parish catechists willing topersevere in this work for some years. Something similar is also happening with priests who are obsessed with protectingtheir free time. This is frequently due to the fact that people feel an overbearing need to guard their personal freedom,as though the task of evangelization was a dangerous poison rather than a joyful response to God’s love which summonsus to mission and makes us fulfilled and productive. Some resist giving themselves over completely to mission and thusend up in a state of paralysis and acedia.
