Present Progressive

El Presente Continuo o Presente Progresivo es un tiempo verbal que se utiliza para expresar acciones que suceden en el mismo momento en que se está hablando, esta compuesto por el verbo "to be" y un verbo especial llamado gerundio (gerund). El gerundio se forma generalmente agregando -ing al final del verbo.

EJEMPLOS:

La forma afirmativa de el presente continuo/Progresivo.  En la forma afirmativa se debe utilizar el Sujeto

(esto puede ser un pronombre sujeto o sustantivo) más (+) del verbo ser en tiempo presente (am / is / are) y el complemento (opcional).

EJEMPLOS:

We are playing tennis.Estamos jugando al tenis.

I am reading the newspaper.Estoy leyendo el periódico.

La forma negativa de el presente continuo/Progresivo.

La forma negativa añade la partícula 'not' al auxiliar. se debe utilizar el sujeto + presente del verbo to be + not + verbo en –ing + complemento/s.

EJEMPLOS:

He is not swimming in the pool.No está nadando en la piscina

They are not watching TV.Ellos no están viendo la televisión

La forma interrogativa de el presente continuo/Progresivo.

Dado que el Present Progressive contiene el verbo TO BE como auxiliar, la forma interrogativa se obtiene invirtiendo el órden del auxiliar y del sujeto, se debe utilizar verbo “to be” (am, is, are) + sujeto + verbo principal + complemento con terminación “ing”.

EJEMPLOS:

is Ernesto listening music ?¿está Ernesto escuchando música ?

Is this the studying English?¿esta el estudiando ingles?

Errores comunes: Ejemplo:My father working (Incorrect)

Mi padre trabajo (Incorrecto)

My father IS working.(Correct)Mi Padre sigue trabajando (Correcta).

- Las personas se olvidan de usar el verbo ser

- A veces las personas no utilizan la forma-ing.

Ejemplo:Robert is play with my sister (Incorrect) Robert es jugar con mi hermana (Incorrecto)

Robert is playING with my sister. (Correct) Robert está jugando con mi hermana. (Correcta)
