meric ring is protected by
the thermoplastic insert and
both work for the sealing, in
low and high pressure, untilclass 1500.

delta ring insert. Theelastomeric element ensures
the sealing in low pressure as
in high pressure, until class
900. Delta shape prevents
the insert extrusion during
ball rotation. The delta ring is
maintained in position by an
elastic ring out of stainless
steel.

We can provide an extensive choice ofsealing solutions to satisfy all customers

ST
Its a seat with a thermo-plastic ring insert. The in-
sert assures the tightness
on the ball. The plastic ring
is inserted in the steel with
interference (determined ac-
cording to the materials) to
prevent the extrusion of the
insert during the rotation ofthe ball.
SM
Metal to metal seat, where
the sealing is obtained by
the contact of seat and
ball metal surfaces, coated
with Tungsten or Chromecarbide, finely lapped and
matched together. Typically
used in potentially erosive or
abrasive service caused by
dirt or particles in the media
(fluid) or when the valve is
exposed to very high tem-
perature.Two main designs for this
type of sealing can be pro-
duced:
1) Strong type: a solid seat,
pushed against a strong ma-
terial ball.
2) Flexible type: a more flex-
ible seat design, slightly
adapting to the ball.

O-RING
Toroidal section rings out of
elastomeric material, closing
escape paths, while beingcompressed and deformed
inside the provided groove.
Thanks to its elastic properties
the o-ring can exert pressure
on the wall of the system
components, producing the
sealing.
GRAPHITE
Component preventing both
internal and external valveleakage in valves heated in
a fire application, when fire
could damage non metal
materials, such as thermo-
plastic rings and o-rings.
Available both in thread
shape or moulded rings.

Radial sealing
Back seat side is a sensitive point in the valve. Seats can be fitted on demandwith radial sealing components, to be chosen depending on temperature,
pressure and media applied.
LIP SEAL
High performance sealing
specific for extreme
applications: cryogenic,
aggressive media, high
temperature. Tolerances and
roughness to be granted for
high performance.
SPRINGS
Component fitted in to the
back seat or directly in tothe valve body to ensure
tightness at extremely low
differential pressure. Out
of AISI 302 for standard
applications, or Inconel 750,
for aggressive media and
extreme temperature.
BACK-UP RING
Thermoplastic ring out of
PTFE or PEEK, conceived
to avoid o-ring extrusion,
especially in high pressure
conditions. Improving o-ring
function and ensuring its
long-life.

Materials
AVV can supply any material, in accordance with a specific application.
Thanks to our technical know-how and continuous research we are ready to
recommend the best material combination for any working condition.
All metallurgical compositions are sourced thoroughly in compliance with the
customer request and managed in-house. Depending on the size seats areobtained from bars, hollow bars, pre-shaped rings or raw rings.
Both forged, laminated and casted centrifuged materials can be used in
accordance with the users specification. Additional requirements, such as
extra tests, ultrasonic test, 3.2 certificate to be performed on demand.

Thermoplastics
The thermoplastic material is extensively used for the front sealing.Thermoplastics can be selected among a wide range of materials, to
match the chemical and mechanical properties with the specific working
environment of the valve.
Thermoplastic insert is pressed by interference into the provided groove and
finished according to the customer design by a dedicated tool, to ensure thebest roughness.

Nickel Plating
Electroless Nickel Plating is a surface treatment assuring high resistance tocorrosion, wear and friction. It is specifically suitable to enhance the life of
components exposed to severe working conditions.
Different thickness of the Nickel layer can be obtained depending on the
service environment: 30 50 80 m, with a standard superficial hardness
of 500-600 HV. On demand hardness can be increased up to 1000 HVperforming additional heat treatment.
Tungsten and Chrome carbide coating are provided to increase wear and
abrasion resistance, to make seats and ball suitable to perform in aggressive
environments, where corrosion, abrasion, high pressure and temperature are
combined. Different carbide thickness can be obtained on demand.
In case of seats and ball with Tungsten or Chrome carbide coating, AVV can
offer the complete metal to metal kit, including matching of the components,
so to provide a checked package ready to be assembled into the valve.
