    7. A DEPOSIT SCALE VECTORASD Spectral Analysis

Characteristic spectra allow the identification ofmineral species, as well as variations in thewavelength at around 2200 nm in white mica.

White Mica > prox. visible halo > phengiteWhite Mica > distal cryptic (deuteric alt.) >

    * This survey was performed using a TerraSpec Portable Vis/NIRinstrument by Scott Halley of Mineral Mapping Limited

Visible chlorite alteration zones are eitherdeveloped asymmetrically, on one side of themineralised vein or are apparently unrelated tomineralised veins

    9. LODE-SCALE TARGETING FOR GOLD

    PATHFINDERS ELEMENTS & ALTERATION INDICES

Geochemical dispersion as an exploration vector towardsgoldbearing veins at the lode scale.

The analytical suite comprised K2O, Al2O3, Au, Ba, Ca, Cr,Cs, Cu, Fe, Li, Mg, Mn, Na, P, S, Sr, Ti, V, Zn, Zr, Ag, As, Be,Bi, Cd, Ce, Co, Ga, Ge, Hf, In, La, Lu, Mo, Nb, Pb, Rb, Sb,

    , , , , , , , , , , .

The most useful elements from an exploration perspective areAu, Cu, Pb, Bi, Mn, Sb, W, As, Te, Tl.

Alkali alteration indices (Rb+Cs/Th)N (Heath and Campbell,2004) and 3K/Al (Kishida and Kerrich, 1983) were assessed

    10. CONCLUSIONS

At the Regional Scale, Aster imagery identifies areas of hidrothermalalteration dominated by illite (argillic alteration). A large area of argillicalteration extending for tens of kilometres nor norwest of Vijus is

inmediately evident in the Aster image. Quartz-carbonate-sulfides veinswith content of gold were identified at Santa Filomena project. At the district scale, stress mapping using the Pataz district geological

map and an ENE-WSW shortening direction predicts the location of 44%.

At the deposit scale, phyllosilicate mineralogy determined by ASDmineral spectroscopy shows that the visible proximal white micaalteration around mineralised veins is phengitic. Spectral analysis ofwhite micas in deuteric alteration beyond the proximal phengitic whitemica zones can be used to detect illite- and muscovite- dominant zones

and used as a vector towards gold-bearing veins. At the lode scale, the (Rb+Cs/Th)N ratio is elevated above background

values for up to 15 metres beyond zones of visible white mica alterationand anomalous gold (>5ppb)
