A model, is part of reality, represented as a combination of mathematical functions. SPAC= soil plant atmosphere continuumSo, that was some explanation about modeling and model calibration and validation. That was the What, but the how about the Why?. Suppose you want to check NEW situations, so new inputs!! How will the crop respond to situations that did not yet occur in reality in the past?
I previously said: lets solve part of the agricultural water&food problem by deficit irrigation: give guidelines by combining field work with crop water productivity modeling; but then: WHY modeling?OR: How would the crop react to new management (new reality) under different conditions? Testing them all in reality would be very very time consuming. ************************
