4. The Public‐Private Partnership

Gorongosa National Park is a Mozambican treasure that provides 

environmental, educational, aesthetic, recreational, spiritual and economic 

benefits to all humankind. 

The Long Term Agreement provides for a 20‐year co‐management contract 

between the Gregory C. Carr Foundation and the Government of Mozambique.

The Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Mozambique governs the Park 

through an Oversight Committee, Park Administrator, and the different Park 

Departments. 

Gorongosa Restoration Project is registered as an NGO in Mozambique.
