CTP Davall Ltd is one of the few companies that specialises in the

design and manufacture of both high precision injection moulding

gears and complete transmission systems in engineering plastics. An

in-depth knowledge of engineering plastics, and extremely high

standard of equipment and the efficiency of its production control and

quality procedures have won this company much acclaim.

Davall Stock Gears provides the designer, prototype maker,

distributor, maintenance engineer, model engineer and original

equipment manufacturer with a reliable source of standard off-the-shelfgears, toothed belt drives, gearbox, couplings, universal joints and

other transmission components. More than 10,000 different items are

carried in stock, offering a comprehensive range, an unrivalled service

is given to customers.

Davall Gears is an established leader in the field of

custom-made gearing, a position attained by

successfully applying extensive knowledge of gear

design and manufacture, acquired over many years.

This knowledge, combined with the use of modern

technology, ensures that we are always ahead of the

field and able to provide solutions to the many and

varied power transmission and rotary motion problems

we are faced with each year.

Examples of the problems solved encompass a

broad spectrum: In the industrial field we have

designed and manufactured gears, gear assemblies

and gearboxes for a variety of applications rangingfrom machine tools, textile machinery, lifts, hoists,

cranes and conveyors to agricultural, mining, oil

exploration equipment and main battle tanks.

Davall Gears, as market leaders in the field of gear

Davall Gears design team

Spiradrive gear products

Unique to Davall Gears, this form of right angle

gearing (see opposite page) can offer a reduction in

overall envelope size. Ratios from 6:1 to 350:1 can be

obtained, coupled with a higher power transmission

capability than an equivalent size worm wheel.

Spiradrive gears are stronger and smoother

running than any other gear type of equal size andratio. They have high shock strength with near zero

backlash and can be custom manufactured, or are

available off-the-shelf. They are also less sensitive to

mounting errors than worm or bevel hypoid gears.

CTP Davall is a technical precision injection

moulding solutions business, which brings

together CTP Davall and CTP Davall Scotland.

It operates under the umbrella of Carclo Technical

Plastics, a division of Carclo plc. It is one of the

designers and suppliers of high tolerance polymer

gears in the world.

The creation of CTP Davall brings strong synergistic

benefits of technical experience and expertise,

toolmaking capability, and 24 hour, 7 day precision

manufacturing. Strong engineering capabilities in the

fields of precision technical moulding, polymer gear

design and high-level assembly ensures CTP Davall

has the product to match the most demanding

We are a company where ideas take shape and

We have the capability to add value to our

customers products using specialist knowledge of

moulding and assembly. Early supply interface

(ESI) can ensure our customers receive maximum

support in the development of their products,

therefore reducing costs in medium to long term.

Extensive secondary operations capabilities are

available, including ultrasonic welding, hotfoil pad

printing, machine painting and assembly.

Our extensive design capability utilises the

latest software such as, Pro-Engineer, Pro-

Mechanica, AutoCad, Moldflow, Solidworks,

and specialist gear design software provides

customers with full product design as well as

design for product verification. Project teams

work alongside customers to either develop

new products or

re-engineer existing products.

A dedicated team of experienced engineers

and designers is available to manage both

new projects and supplier transition

programs. QS procedures ensure total

quality methodologies are adopted.

Utilising latest CAD, CAM and CNC

machinery capabilities, CTP Davall offers

both internal tool manufacturing and sub-

contract tool management. In this way the

group utilises the extensive range of

precision tooling capabilities available within

Carclo Technical Plastics.

CTP Davall

We are able to offer a wide range of

rapid prototyping options including

rapid steel tooling. CTP Davall have

introduced a unique rapid steel tooling

service called Q-Drive giving the ability

to produce tooling and supply parts in

under 3 weeks. This system is for gear

and non-gear components up to a

maximum size of 70mm diameter.

Q-Drive tooling and manufacturing

system delivers make like production

parts which are ideal for prototype or

production purposes for up to 100,000

parts. The design of the system allows

flexibility and rapid changeover in

production.

We are a key partner in extensive research and

development projects, with eminent partners such

as Birmingham University, Dupont, Ticona,

BriteEuram partners and Pera. CTP Davall

development of polymers for gear application and

Davall Stock Gears provide a reliable source of high

quality off-the-shelf gears, timing pulleys and belts,

universal joints, couplings and speed reducers, backed

up by a quick, efficient despatch service.

Our extensive ranges of metric and imperial pitch

gears are suitable for a wide range of applications,

from heavy duty machinery to light duty instruments

and motion transmission drives.

Over 10,000 items are regularly held in stock ready

for despatch to customers all over the world. No

quantity is too small or too large for us to handle, and

we accept orders by telephone, fax, Email and post.

All goods are generally dispatched within 24 hours of

receipt of order unless otherwise requested or advised.

Experienced telephone sales personnel are always on

hand to take orders and provide information on

product price and availability.Our methods of payment are simple:

Account customers are invoiced monthly:

non-account customers may pay by proforma invoice,

cash, cheque or Credit Card (VISA and Mastercard).

We have a cash sales/trade counter which is open

daily during normal working hours for customers who

wish to collect the items they require.

We would advise customers wishing to buy goods

at our trade counter to check availability of the itemsthey require before making their collection

arrangements. Whilst we always try to ensure that we

have adequate stocks of all products, we cannot

legislate for the unexpected, and a telephone call to

DAVALL STOCK GEARS range of MODULAR

and ADAPTABLE worm gearboxes.

The series is available in 7 sizes, and by careful selection, offers a

reduction ratio between 7:1 and in excess of 9500:1.

Rated for input power upto 4.0Kw, and an output torque of 850Nm

The high speed steel worm is hardened and ground, supported on

two bearings, and meshes with a bronze alloy wheel, supported on

over-sized bearings, to accomodate a large output bore.

The case is Aluminium Alloy, vacuum impregnated with a resin to

seal and protect.

The units sealed for life, and designed for 10,000 life hours.

Available to suit either IEC (metric) or NEMA (imperial) motor

frame sizes

On request, the gearboxes can be supplied ATEX certified

(groups 2 and 3).

The belts teeth and body are made of a lightweightpolyurethane compound, specially blended for adhesionto the cords and fabric. This uniquely formulatedpolyurethane makes the belt tough and virtually immuneto abrasion and chemicals.

System Specification


The three principal dimensions of a pulley arepitch;- number of grooves;- belt width.

On the pulley, pitch is the distance between groove centres and is measured on the pulleys pitch circle. The pitch circleof the pulley coincides with the pitch line of the belt engaging with it. The pulleys pitch diameter is always greater thanits outside diameter.

Any Poly Chain GT2 belt must be run with pulleys of the same pitch.Poly Chain GT2 belts can be used on existing Poly Chain GT drives.

They operate on the same pulleys and do not require any adaptation of the system. Pulleys for Poly Chain GT2 belts aremade in 8 mm and 14 mm pitches. Standard pulley sizes are listed on. For each Poly Chain GT2 belt width, there is atable listing the pulley codes, the applicable bushing style and pertinent dimensional information. Reference to the stockbushings for Poly Chain GT pulleys plus bore and keyway information is available to order the correct bushing.

The pulley ordering code is composed as follows:
