余也魯教授在電影學院成立時的致賀信 Prof. Timothy YU congratulated the establishment of the Academy of Film

……記得 1970 年代，在傳理系中增加影藝專業，請得 Dr. Alton Everest 來協助籌劃（他的中文名叫艾偉峙），邀得胡金銓前來上課，取得亞洲高等教育基金會 30 萬港元的器材資助，收了十個學生，彷彿仍是昨日的事。浸大能讓此專業在艱辛中傳承下來，30 年後的今天，能夠如此壯大的景象建立一間電影學院，委實不易……謹書數語致賀辭，並祝對亞洲和世界產生大且深遠的影響 。

1986 年於香港浸會學院創辦傳理系，被譽為「傳理系之父」。 Founder of the Department of Communication, Hong Kong Baptist College in 1968.

創意工業是許多國際都會經濟及文化發展的動力泉

源。過去四十六年，電影學院肩負為業界培育優秀、

專業人才的重任，一直是創意菁英的搖籃。經過近五

十不斷的努力與堅持，完善教學內容，現時提供既獨

特又全面的影視培訓課程，涵蓋專業、本科、碩士及

哲學博士課程。

電影學院前身為電影電視系，2010年正式改組。

多年來，在創意工業圈時常看到電影學院畢業生綻

放的光芒，他們於不同本地及地區比賽贏取獎項，

包括 32 VGIK International Student Festival (Russia)、Euroshorts 2011 (Poland)、13th Digicon6 (Japan)、Hong Kong Asian Independent Film Festival 2009 (Hong Kong) 、 Hong Kong Independent Short Film & Video Awards (Hong Kong) 及「鮮浪潮」國際短片展

等，收穫豐富，果實纍纍，才華備受認同，值得我們

驕傲與尊重。在此特別感謝電影學院全體教職員、校

友及學生的付出與貢獻。

我深信，在未來的日子，電影學院在穩固紮實的基礎

之上，定能再上層樓，再攀高峰。

The creative industries drive cultural and economic growth in several international cities. The Academy of Film at HKBU has nurtured creativity and talent for the last 46 years, and many of its graduates have gone on to make valuable contributions to the creative community. The Academy of Film is the cradle for the city’s creative elite, and its comprehensive range of courses, from undergraduate and postgraduate to vocational programmes, reflect its sustained efforts to expand and enhance its teaching for nearly five decades.

In 2010, the Department of Cinema and Television was renamed the Academy of Film. We are proud of the Academy’s graduates for the competence they have shown and the respect they have earned from the creative community. Over the years, they have won numerous accolades and scholarships, as well as awards in extremely competitive local and regional film competitions, such as the XXXII VGIK International Student Festival (Russia), Euroshorts 2011 (Poland), the 13th Digicon6 Awards (Japan), the Hong Kong Asian Independent Film Festival 2009 (Hong Kong), the Hong Kong Independent Short Film and Video Awards (Hong Kong) and the Fresh Wave International Short Film Festival (Hong Kong). These successes could not have been achieved without the combined efforts of the Academy’s faculty, alumni and students.

I am confident that the Academy will build on this outstanding foundation in its ongoing work as a pioneer in creative-industry education.

Professor Emilie Yeh is an internationally recognised specialist in Chinese and Asian cinema. She has held the following academic and administrative positions: Associate Director of the David C. Lam Institute for East-West Studies (2003-2010); Director of the Centre for Media and Communication Research, School of Communication (2007-2014); and Visiting Scholar at Harvard University, Tsinghua University (Taiwan), Academia Sinica and National Taiwan University. She was also appointed Visiting Research Fellow at the Carsey-Wolf Centre at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Professor Yeh has served twice on the jury of the Golden Horse Film Awards, and has been involved in judging the Hong Kong Independent Short Film and Video Awards and the Fresh New Wave Film Competition. She has been awarded research grants from the Research Grants Council, the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation and other funding agencies in Australia and the US. She has worked as a consultant for the Motion Picture Association of America, and received two awards for outstanding scholarly performance from the School of Communication. Among her publications are 9 books and more than 50 articles. Some of her articles have been translated into Japanese, Spanish, Hungarian and Chinese.

文樹森先生是亞洲媒體界的全方位資深工作者，從內容創

作與管理、電台廣播、電視頻道經營、電影製作與發行等

有超過三十年豐富的行政業務經驗。

2 0 0 5 年 文 先 生 加 入 新 加 坡 國 家 媒 體 發 展 局 ( M e d i a Development Authority) 出任廣播與電影司長一職，主要負

責向外推廣新加坡媒體事業並撮合與外國公司合作發展項

目，以及管理公共廣播基金的營運。2008年，他加入美國

著名馬克伯內特 (Mark Burnett) 在亞洲設立的第一間製作

公司，任職總裁。之後，他在2009出任星霖電影公司掌舵

人，主要為亞洲市場製作電影及相關的投資活動。

多年來，文樹森先生受亞洲不同地區的媒體機構應邀，參

與國際性主題演講及同時擔任多項公職，包括從2006起擔

任亞洲電視大獎評審主席。2007年，文先生被美國娛樂雜

誌《Variety》封為亞洲50名傑出電影領袖。目前, 他受委

擔任新加坡媒體節諮詢委員會 (Singapore Media Festival Advisory Board)。

Mr. Man Shu Sum is a veteran of the regional media industry, with a wealth of experience in television management, content development and industry development.

In 2005, Mr. Man joined the Media Development Authority (MDA) as the Director of Broadcast and Film. In this capacity, he was responsible for developing Singapore’s television and film industry, supervising public-service funding and driving the creation of high-definition (HD) content in Singapore’s nationwide HD-television trial. In 2008, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mark Burnett Productions Asia, responsible for developing non-scripted television in Asia. From November 2009 to late 2012, Mr. Man headed MediaCorp Raintree Pictures and produced and invested in films made in Singapore, Malaysia and China.

Over the years, Mr. Man has shared his vast media experience at several international conferences. He has held the post of Chief of Jury for the Asian Television Awards since 2006. He was named one of the top 50 Asian film leaders by the American entertainment trade magazine Variety in 2007, and is currently a member of the advisory board for the Singapore Media Festival.

年，電影電視系正式成立。面對大中華地區影

The Academy has a strong teaching and research team comprised of more than fifty teaching staff. The expertise of our faculty includes the following areas: film and media studies, film and television

development of the media industry in the Greater China region, the Department was upgraded and renamed the Academy of Film in 2009. The establishment of the Academy received substantial support from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, the Hong Kong Film Development Council and the Hong Kong film industry.

The Academy currently offers four full-time programmes to over 700 students at higher diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate degree levels including:

The Academy of Film is dedicated to the provision of cinematic-arts and creative media education to cultivate talented professionals capable of contributing to Hong Kong’s arts and cultural industries. For the last four decades, it has been the chief provider of cinema, television and media education in Hong Kong. It is currently Hong Kong’s flagship film school in terms of its size, breadth of programmes, distinguished alumni and strong industry connections.

As early as the 1970s, HKBU offered Hong Kong’s first film and video production course, as well as classes in cinema studies to develop students’ critical, historical and aesthetic acumen. In 1991, the Department of Cinema and Television was formally established. To keep pace with the rapid

電影電視與數碼媒體藝術(製作)碩士學位課程是

香港首個影視製作碩士學位，歷史悠久，課程

參照美國的「大學影視協會」規定而設立，為

有志從事影視與媒體工業的人才提供具國際視

野的專業培訓。歷屆畢業生在業內擔任影視數

碼媒體編導、管理、發行等相關工作，逐步形

成龐大網絡，MFA是相關課程的最高學歷，故

在廣泛地區受到認可，作為大學任教資歷。

為期三年的課程中，學生於首年學習基礎知

識、拍攝剪輯技術、錄影棚運作、數碼圖像、

劇本寫作、世界電影史、美學理論等。學生於

第二學年選修不同創意媒體的專業科目。第三

學年，學生將會重點研習一種媒體製作形式，

並以此為基礎創作、開發和完成本藝術碩士課

程所要求的畢業作品。

Master of Fine Arts in Film, Television and Digital Media, a terminal degree in creative media production, was first of its kind in Hong Kong. The programme was created in accordance with the stipulations of the US University Film and Video Association. The aim of the programme is to train professionals with international vision to work in the media industry. Over the years, graduates have taken up various key positions in the creative industry, building up a strong alumni network.

Students receive relatively broad training in film, television and digital media production in the first year, and may concentrate on particular crafts for the remainder of the study. There is a wide range of elective courses in the second year, enabling students to select a media form (Script Writing, Film/TV Production, or Digital Media Production) to complete their Thesis Project in the final year.

Bachelor of Communication (Honours) - Film Major offers a unique integration of two concentrations - Film and Television Concentration, Animation and Media Arts Concentration - to equip students with the knowledge required to develop careers in the creative industries, such as audio-visual production, digital animation, interactive gaming, visual design and media- or arts-related administration. The Film and Television Concentration offers students the highlights of the well-received Cinema and Television programme, and the Animation and Media Arts Concentration extends students’ professional training into the arena of interactive and digital media. A key feature of the major is an exercise in practical production. Students are expected to be able to think analytically, critically and creatively.

The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Creative Writing for Film, Television and New Media is a self-funded undergraduate programme offered by the Academy of Film in collaboration with the College of International Education of HKBU. It provides an alternative path for associate-degree or higher-diploma graduates to pursue further study in the fields of film, television and new media.

In an era of media convergence, with increasing digitisation and ever more sophisticated telecommunication technologies, traditional media are changing rapidly. As a result, there is considerable demand for individuals with creative talent who are able to adapt to the new media environment. The aim of this programme is to offer students comprehensive training in script writing that enhances their creativity, writing ability and cultural literacy, and thus enables them to excel in the use of both traditional media and new media after graduation.

To help students to develop their film-production skills,HKBU launched studio i as a subsidiary of the Academy of Film,

School of Communication in November 2014.

點子電影工作室將向獲選的同學提供全面協助，包括邀請知名電影人擔任專業指導、提供製作資金，以及先進拍攝器材及完善的製作設備。

工作室目標於2017年推出一部劇情片及三部微電影，並安排於本地戲院廣泛上映及參加國際知名的電影節，促進同學與本地及世界各地的電影人才交流。

「i」代表想法、意念。點子電影工作室推出為期三年(2014-2017)的劇情片計劃和微電影計劃，向有潛質的同學提供獨特機會，化新穎點子為完整劇本，並實踐於電影拍攝，把文字變成真實。

studio i will provide the students involved in these projects with financial support and access to film-production infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment. Notably, students will also be mentored by veteran film professionals.

It is expected that by 2017, one feature film and three micro-films will have emerged from studio i. To foster cultural exchange among students and film-makers worldwide, these films will be released widely in the territory and submitted to numerous international film festivals.

i stands for “ideas”. studio i is a unique production platform designed to showcase students’ creativity and provide film-making experience as part of the Academy’s new feature-film and micro-film projects. These projects, which run from 2014 to 2017, offer students and recent graduates of the Academy the opportunity to transform their original ideas into scripts and ultimately to produce real films.

i also stands for “incubator”. studio i was designed specifically to identify and nurture creative talent and provide students with industry-standard training in film-production techniques. Current students and graduates of the classes of 2010 to 2014 are eligible to submit applications for the projects.

The Academy of Film is located in the newly built Communication and Visual Arts Building on the Baptist University Road Campus, which is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. For example, HKBU was the first publicly funded university in Hong Kong to offer its students a HD television and film studio (the Jockey Club Television and Film Studio). These facilities give students hands-on experience of film production and familiarise them with the latest technological developments in the television and film industries.

Awarded the degree of Doctor of Letters, honoris causa, by HKBU in 2014. Dr. To was a producer and director of Television Broadcasts Ltd. and produced well-known TV drama series including Yesterday’s Glitter and Legend of the Condor Heroes; Co-founded Milkyway Image Ltd. and produced A Hero Never Dies, Running Out of Time and The Mission, etc. Dr. To was named best director three times in the Hong Kong Film Awards, three times in the Golden Horse Awards of Taiwan, six times in the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards, and three times in the Golden Bauhinia Awards

於2004年獲香港浸會大學頒榮譽社會科學博士；1986 至 87 年間，憑《英雄本色》獲香港電影金像獎「最佳電影」，以及金馬獎「最佳導演」；90年憑《喋血雙雄》奪香港電影金像獎「最佳導演」；2010年獲頒第67屆威尼斯影展「終身成就獎」

於八、九十年代為多套電影擔任攝影，為全球第一套由華人以高清科技(High Definition 24P 高清晰度視像系統)拍攝的電影 Manhattan Midnight (2001) 擔任攝影，並獲費城電影節 「最佳攝影」
