Time for Celebration! Nonwoven Fabric Industry Leader Fitesa Selects Fullscope and
Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations
Congratulations to Emir Dobraca, Linda Hope, Sylvain Menard, Perry Murphy, Ronnie
White, Steve Reed, John Insleman, and Ivan MacDonald for closing a cloud deal,
Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations, at Fitesa. The Fullscope team was supported by
John Flagg, Deborah Vermillion, Don Lees, and Shawna Mikes from Microsoft. The lead
came from John Flagg at Microsoft.
Fitesa is a leader in the nonwoven fabric industry, specializing in providing innovative
fabrics for the hygiene, medical, and industrial markets. They make Spunmelt, Carded,
Airlaid, and specialty fabrics for applications in baby care, feminine hygiene, and adult
incontinence, as well as medical, agricultural, and industrial products. With executive
offices in Gravatai, Brazil, and Simpsonville, SC, Fitesa operates ten manufacturing
locations in eight countries.
Fitesa is currently running three legacy systems: Baan, BPICS, and TOTVS Protheus. One
of the key objectives for Fitesa was to have a system that could support their global
growth strategy, which consists of both acquisition and greenfield. They no longer want
technology to be the bottle neck; instead, they want full visibility into their operations
across the globe. Fitesa believes that Microsoft technology, Dynamics 365 for
Operations, and Office 365 will best prepare them to become a true global company.
Fullscope competed against two ERP vendors and another Dynamics 365
implementation partner and was selected due to our process manufacturing expertise,
which was illustrated through numerous customer reference calls and customer site
visits. Additionally, Fullscope was able to position itself as the best Microsoft partner for
Fitesa for this significant multi-year, global project by exhibiting our process
manufacturing expertise along with our ability to provide global implementation
partners for their respective locations.
Initial project planning begins late January with formal project start in early February.
Introducing Microsoft Dynamics 365
It is all anyone in the Microsoft Dynamics community has been discussing. Since
Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella’s announcement back in July, Microsoft Dynamics 365
has caused quite the stir amongst partners and customers alike. Dynamics 365 unifies
CRM and ERP cloud solutions together into one unified, cloud-based application
platform. Nadella’s main takeaways to eager customers were that Microsoft Dynamics
365:
Helps organizations move from monolithic application suites to purpose-built,
SaaS applications with intelligence built in
Integrates Microsoft Office 365
Introduces a disruptive and customer centric business model to build what you
want and buy just the capabilities you need, while ensuring all roles have access
to all the data they need to be successful in their jobs
All the fuss has consumers asking, “What is Dynamics 365?” and “What does this
integration mean for my business?” More importantly, “What sets Dynamics 365 apart
from the competition?”
It’s Purpose-Built
According to Microsoft, Dynamics 365 provides customers a modern and familiar
experience with built-in insights, intelligence, and workflow. It allows customers to mix
and match the features that they specifically need, which can be selected from a huge
catalog that include sales, marketing, customer service, field service, project
management, accounting, and much more. Dynamics 365 merges current CRM and ERP
functionality into one comprehensive, cloud-based collection of cloud apps and services
for business.
Dynamics 365 apps are independently deployed and bring together the full
power of Microsoft’s Enterprise offerings. With these business apps, customers can start
small and only pay for what is needed, and from there expand their arsenal. The app
catalogue includes built-in insights, predictive intelligence, and workflow optimization,
among many other selections. All of these will be delivered through simple, easy-to-use
mobile experiences with offline capabilities.
It’s Productive
Dynamics 365 will provide an immersive user experience with Office 365.
Microsoft states that there will be a deep integration between Dynamics 365 and Office
365 that will connect the structured workflow of business apps with the unstructured
work of collaboration and productivity. With Dynamics 365, all information you have can
easily be uploaded and shared on Office 365, and it is offered across web, mobile
devices, and the PC.
It’s Intelligent
Power BI and Cortana Intelligence will be natively embedded into Dynamics 365
to attain actionable next steps and predictive insights for customers everywhere, making
this the AI product that everyone will be eager to demo. Cortana will enable cross-sell
recommendations to help sales reps predict which products and services a customer will
need, and uses tools like sentiment analysis to check on the likelihood of closing a deal.
Meanwhile, the Power BI components of Dynamics 365 align big data and analytics to
enable every user to gain their own analytical insights. With Dynamics 365,
comprehensible data is always at the user’s fingertips.
It’s Adaptable
In an industry that is constantly evolving, you need a system that can be easily
adapted. Dynamics 365 supports existing capabilities that any Dynamics CRM or
Dynamics AX user is running today, and has introduced Microsoft PowerApps and
Microsoft Flow, which are powerful new extension capabilities that work across all the
data that’s been stored in Dynamics 365. Specifically, Microsoft Flow automates
workflows across applications, while Microsoft AppSource offers SaaS applications that
cover a huge range of requirements. To view Edgewater Fullscope’s AppSource apps for
the manufacturing industry, click here.
The new Common Data Model surfaces all the data stored within Dynamics 365
across a set of custom entities that model data across all the different business apps.
This feature allows you to seamlessly extend and accelerate all of your business apps as
well as all your productivity solutions.
With Dynamics 365, customers can get the job done quickly and effortlessly while
adjusting to a changing environment at a moment’s notice. As Satya Nadella said during
the reveal of Dynamics 365, “The motivating force behind everything we do and
everything we build is to empower our customers to make things and make things
happen. Together with our customers and partners, we are reinventing business
processes for a world where devices, data, intelligence and connectivity can be
everywhere.”
An award-winning Microsoft manufacturing partner with nearly two decades of
experience, Edgewater Fullscope can guide you into a move to Dynamics 365. Our team
has deep manufacturing experience that can help you combat your toughest
operational business challenges.

Subject Line: Always Sparkling! Glass Manufacturer Libbey Glass Company Selects Fullscope and
Microsoft Dynamics AX
Congratulations to Steve Sanderson, Beth Wells, Steve Reed, Ivan MacDonald, Alex Kozlenko, Nancy
Mukomela, Ron Scott, Cesar Picone, Drew Rouse, Andrew Baehr and Perry Murphy for closing an SOW
for services for a Microsoft Dynamics AX Cloud deal at Libbey Inc. MCS had initially taken the lead at
Libbey and they were supported by Mike Ossola, Bruno Ierullo, Sandra Larrea, and Steve Moses. This
lead came from Fullscope Business Development, Microsoft, and Convergence 2015 via a Bush Brothers’
referral.
Libbey, based in Toledo, Ohio, is believed to be the No. 1 glassware company in the world. Libbey
designs, produces and markets an extensive line of high-quality tableware including: glassware, ceramic
dinnerware, metal flatware, hollowware, serve ware and home decor items in over 100 countries for the
foodservice, retail and B2B markets.
The company currently uses multiple instances of JD Edwards. The search for a new ERP system was
driven by Libbey’s need to increase productivity, automate manual processes, obtain better information
to make sound decisions and reduce costs. Integrating to one platform solves these demands.
Libbey’s executives considered SAP, Oracle, and Dynamics AX before deciding on Dynamics AX. Fullscope
was selected as their AX partner in a partner evaluation following the selection of AX.
Fullscope benefited greatly from our partnership with Bush Brothers’. Libbey felt that Bush Brothers was
similar to them, and therefore took interest in Fullscope. During the formal evaluation process, Libbey
became comfortable with our attention to detail and experience in the CPG industry. Company
executives also connected with Beth Wells, who led the initial discovery and estimate process during an
RFP phase. We developed a consultative relationship, helping them with various technical and functional
items as they began to delve into AX. We are also helping them scope other initiatives including rollout
of the full breadth of AX in their North America business units.
Libbey began the initial implementation of specific work streams with 400 users in North America the
week of August 1st.
Subject Line: A Heavy Metal Family! Metal manufacturer Samuel, Son & Co. Selects
Fullscope and Microsoft Dynamics 365
Congratulations to Gus Vattiata, Ivan MacDonald, Steve Sanderson, Nancy Feddersen,
John Scandar, Sylvain Menard, Alex Kozlenko, and the implementation team that started
at the end of 2016 of: Fred Betchel, Domenic Mattia, Bill Vail, Samar Al-Jammal, and
Clayton Loden for closing a Microsoft Dynamics D365 opportunity at Samuel, Son & Co.
Microsoft support for the deal came from Alison Wheeler and Joyce Lafleur. This lead
came from Nancy Fedderson from Inside Sales and we were then introduced into the
account and supported by Microsoft.
Samuel, Son & Co., Limited is a family owned business founded in 1855 and is the 4th
largest metal processor and distributor in North America. Samuel is also a major
manufacturer of metal and related products. Samuel offers a full range of value added
processing services and a complete range of carbon, stainless and aluminum products in
all shapes and forms. Samuel employs over 5,000 people who operate over 100 Service
Centers and Manufacturing plants in North America as well as facilities in the UK,
Australia and China.
The company currently uses Oracle, JDE, and other ERP systems. The new search was
driven by Samuel’s objective to move all its business units and locations (approximately
110) onto 1 common ERP system. Samuel has grown substantially and a large portion of
that growth was via acquisitions, leading to an existing IT environment made up of
many disparate pieces.
After considering Oracle, Samuel’s executives selected the cloud-based solution,
Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations (formally Dynamics AX). They eliminated Oracle
after seeing the industry-specific Dynamics 365 third party software that Crowe Horwath
offered for the steel industry. Oracle could not provide similar industry specific
functionality. Edgewater Fullscope was highly recommended by Microsoft as well other
Toronto customers, such as Mother Parkers. We are working alongside Crowe Horwath
on the implementation.
As noted above, The Samuel, Son & Co. implementationalready began in October with a
team of six consultants. The Statement of Work was recently completed for the first
phase of the project.
Subject Line: Zipping into Success! Industrial manufacturer selects Fullscope and Microsoft
Dynamics AX
Congratulations to Ted Root, Linda Hope, Randy Goldbeck, Brian Bognar, and Terry Roe for
closing an SOW for services for a Microsoft Dynamics AX Cloud Deal at Zip-Pak. The lead came
from Microsoft SSP with information provided by Brian Bognar and Terry Roe.
Zip-Pak, a division of Illinois Tool Works, is a Fortune 200 company that is one of the world’s
leading diversified manufacturers of specialized industrial equipment, consumables and related
service businesses. The company operates in more than 52 countries around the world with
more than 270 dedicated flexible packaging professionals who focus their efforts to meet and
exceed the needs of every Zip-Pak client. Zip-Pak has a significant presence in developed and
emerging markets, offering a complete range of re-sealable closure services, machinery, and
solutions.
The company is currently using Sage Mas 90 as their ERP system. The search for a new ERP
system was driven by the company’s desire to consolidate their multiple divisions onto a single
platform. Sage Mas 90 is only in a single division and does not have the manufacturing
capabilities Zip-Pak requires.
Zip-Pak’s executives considered Epicor and Infor Syteline before deciding on Microsoft
Dynamics AX. Although the system functionality was relatively close, they selected Fullscope and
because of our implementation and project management. Our desire to lead and guide the
company appealed to the Zip-Pak executives; we will lead them and challenge their assumptions
to ensure a realistic process, scope and timing for implementation. Zip-Pak selected Dynamics
AX for the latest technology and advanced functionality. The scope of the project will be to
replace the existing disparate ERP system into a single ERP for the company.
Implementation began in October with 100 users in four sites.
