School/Home Communication As your child moves on to Buena Park Junior High, it is important for you, as a parent, to be informed of your child’s grades, homework assignments, behavior, school calendar and more. At Buena Park Junior High, we currently use 3 main information sources to help provide everything you need to know for your child’s success: SchoolGo, Aeries.net and Hero K12. The SchoolGo app is a way for BPJH to keep parents informed about school events and news, as well as for teachers to inform you about homework assignments, grading procedures, test dates and more. SchoolGo offers school personnel a way to conveniently send push messages or notifications as a way to alert parents and students of news and events. In order to download this app, you need to go to Google Play (on an android device) or the Apple Store (iPhone, iPad device) and search for “SchoolGo” using all one word. Then you need to select a state (California), a school district (Buena Park School District) and then our school (Buena Park Junior High). Aeries.net will allow you to check your child’s grades, test scores, attendance, medical records, teacher email addresses and more. In order to sign up for an aeries.net account, you will need to have an email account (that you are able to open so you can confirm that you received an email) and verification passcodes that the office will be providing during the first couple weeks of school. The website for this is: https://portal.bpsd.k12.ca.us/aeries.net/parent. In addition, there will be a link to aeries.net in the SchoolGo App. HERO is used to help keep the lines of communication between home and school open. Hero will give you visibility to see how your student(s) are doing in attendance, positive behavior and discipline referrals. You can also receive push notifications about your child’s behavior (like whether they are late to school or participating in class), and will have the option to communicate directly with teachers about those behaviors, if you’d like. Students will be given Stallion Points for being respectful, responsible and ready to learn, which will offer students a chance to win weekly, monthly and quarterly raffle prizes, as well as, purchase various supplies at the Stallion Store (using stallion points). In order to create an account, you will need to go to: https://access.heropowered.com/parent/login. The office will be providing two parent activation keys and one student key to assist in signing up for the account. Canvas Parent enhances the potential for parents to engage in their children’s education. Parents can review upcoming or past assignments, check on grades and receive course announcements. Students are able to turn in assignments online using Canvas. Access to sign on to Canvas Parent will be provided by the office in the beginning of the school year. The website for this is: https://bpsdlms.instructure.com/canvas/login.
