Thanks to a grant provided by the Getty Foundation CIMAM offers travel fellowships to enable the attendance of modern and

contemporary art curators and museum or collection directors from underrepresented countries to CIMAMrsquos 2013 Annual

Conference New Dynamics in Museums Curator Artwork Public Governance that will be held in Rio de Janeiro 12ndash14

August 2013

Eligibility

Fellowships are restricted to modern and contemporary art curators and museum directors who work in emerging and

developing economies (Emerging Market and Developing Economies according to the International Monetary Fundrsquos World

Economic Outlook Report) They include those professionals whose nationality is not from a Country listed as an emerging

economy but live and work in one of these countries Researchers and independent curators whose field of research and

specialization is contemporary art theory and museums will be also eligible

While curators of all career levels are encouraged to apply we are especially interested in receiving applications from junior

curators who have less than 10 years experience in the field Applicants who previously received CIMAM fellowships

supported by the Getty Foundation will not be considered for a new grant before 3 years

Purpose of the Fellowships

Fellowships will exclusively relate to support the purpose for which the fund was established The funds will be administrated

by CIMAM set on a case-by-case basis Funds will not be sent to the beneficiary directly and will not cover registration and

expenses related with the post-conference tour

The travel fellowships cover conference registration travel expenses (round trip economy flights only) and accommodation

in one of the hotels recommended by CIMAM

Conference registration includes access to conference sessions and workshops lunches and refreshment breaks access to

organized visits coach service to and from planned visits to the conference meeting points and welcome kit

Applications will be considered and evaluated by the CIMAM Travel Grant Committee consisting of the President of CIMAM

and five Board Members together with the staff of the Getty Foundation Fellowships will be conferred based on the

assessment of the professionalrsquos genuine financial need and the potential benefit to her or his development andor research

CIMAM offers around 20 Travel Grants to support the attendance of modern andcontemporary art curators and museum or collection directors to CIMAMrsquos 2013Annual Conference New Dynamics in Museums Curator Artwork Public Governancethat will be held in Rio de Janeiro 12ndash14 August 2013

There are two open calls for travel grants generously funded by

- The Getty Foundation Los Angeles to support the attendance of around 15professionals residing and working in emerging and underrepresented economies

- Fundacioacuten CisnerosColeccioacuten Patricia Phelps de Cisneros to support theattendance of 5 professionals from Latin America with priority to professionalsresiding in Central America and the Caribbean

Travel Grants to attend CIMAM 2013 AnnualConferenceCIMAMrsquos Travel Grant Program isdesigned to foster cooperation andcultural exchange between visual artprofessionals in emerging anddeveloping economies and theircounterparts in other regions of theworld Since 2005 CIMAMrsquos TravelGrant Program has awarded a total of 147 travel grants that have beengenerously supported by the Getty Foundation FundacioacutenCisnerosColeccioacuten Patricia Phelps de Cisneros or the Open SocietyFoundationsndashBudapest Since 2012 the British Council also supports theattendance of professionals from across the UK to participate in CIMAMrsquosannual conferences

In 2013 CIMAM offers over 20 travel grants to modern andcontemporary art museum and collection professionals residing inEmerging Market and Developing Economies professionals residing inLatin America Turkey Spain and the UK

The travel grants cover conference registration travel expenses andaccommodation in one of the hotels recommended by CIMAM Thegrants will allow the participation in CIMAMrsquos 2013 AnnualConference New Dynamics in Museums Curator Artwork PublicGovernance that will be held in Rio de Janeiro 12ndash14 August 2013

ElegibilityGrants are restricted to modern and contemporary art curators andmuseum or collection directors from Latin America with priority toprofessionals residing in Central America and the Caribbean Whilecurators of all career levels are encouraged to apply we are especiallyinterested in receiving applications from junior curators who have lessthan 10 years experience in the field Applicants having received CIMAMgrants from Fundacioacuten CisnerosColeccioacuten Patricia Phelps de Cisneros willnot be considered for a new grant before 3 years

Purpose of the grantGrants will exclusively relate to support the purpose for which the fund wasestablished The fundswill be administrated by CIMAM set on a case-by-case basis up to euro2000maximum per grantee Funds will not be sent to the beneficiary directlyand will not cover registration and expenses relatedwith the post-conference tour
