La calefacción a leña, en reemplazo de gas o petróleo, colabora con detener el calentamiento de la Tierra producto del CO2 en la atmósfera.
En efecto, al quemar un trozo de madera, el proceso de combustión produce la misma cantidad de CO2, que esa misma leña absorbió por
fotosíntesis durante su crecimiento. Por otra parte, esta cantidad de CO2, es igual a la que emitirá el mismo trozo de leña si no se usa como
combustible y se deja descomponer.

Wood combustion when replacing gas or oil, helps to prevent global warming which is produced by the release of CO2 into the atmosphere. However,
burning wood produces the same amount of CO2 that was absorbed by photosynthesis during the growing process of that same wood. On the other
hand, this amount of CO2 is equivalent to that emitted by the wood if it were not used as fuel and was left to decompose.
