    Okoguard is Okonite's registered trade namefor its exclusive ethylene-propylene rubber(EPR) based, thermosetting compound,whose optimum balance of electrical andphysical properties is unequalled in othersolid dielectrics. Okoguard insulation, withthe distinctive red color and a totally inte-grated EPR system, provides the optimumbalance of electrical and physical properties

    for long, problem free service.

    The Type MV-105 conductors are assembledwith fillers and a binder tape overall. Onebare stranded copper grounding conductor isplaced in one of the outer interstices. The in-terlocked Loxarmor provides excellentmechanical strength. For direct burial, em-bedment in concrete or for areas subjectedto corrosive atmospheres, the Loxarmor isprotected with a red Okoseal (PVC) jacket.

    Loxarmor power cables are recommendedas an economical alternate to a wire in con-

    duit system. They are designed specificallyfor use as feeders in industrial and utilitypower distribution systems. Loxarmor powercables may be installed in both exposed andconcealed work, wet and dry locations, directburial in the earth or embedded in concrete.They may be installed on metal racks,troughs, in cable trays or secured to supportsnot greater than 6 feet apart.

    Loxarmor power cables are also approvedfor Classes I and II, Division 2, and Class III,Divisions 1 and 2, hazardous locations -NEC Articles 501, 502 and 503.

    Uncoated copper compactstranded per ASTM B-496.

    Extruded semiconducting,EPR, strand screen meets or exceeds elec-trical and physical requirements of ICEAS-93-639/NEMA WC74 and UL 1072.

    Okoguard meets or exceedselectrical and physical requirements of ICEAS-93-639/NEMA WC74 and UL 1072. The in-sulated conductors are tested in accordancewith AEIC CS8.

    Extruded semiconduct-ing (EPR) insulation screen per ICEA

    S-93-639/NEMA WC74, AEIC CS8 andUL 1072.

    5 mil uncoated copper tape with12.5% nominal overlap.

    Color coded(black, red, blue) polyester ribbon laidlongitudinally under the copper shieldtape.

    Uncoated cop-per in accordance with UL 1072.

    Cabled with fillers and groundwire in the interstices, binder tape overall

    Galvanized steel or aluminuminterlocked tape armor per UL 1072,ICEA S-93-639/NEMA WC74, and ULListing E-60545.

    Sunlight resistant red PVC jacketin accordance with UL 1072.

    UL Listed as Type MV-105 or MC, sun-light resistant, for use in cable tray, andfor direct burial in accordance with UL1072.

    Cables listed to CSA C68.3 are alsoavailable.

    Triple tandem extruded, all EPR system. Complete prepackaged, color coded,factory tested wiring system.

    Okoguard Loxarmor cables meet or ex-ceed all recognized industry standards(UL, AEIC, NEMA/ICEA, IEEE).

    Passes the vertical tray flame test re-quirements of IEEE 383 and 1202, UL1072, ICEA T-29-520 (210,000 BTU/hr.)and the 210,000 BTU/hr. corner configu-ration test.

    Complies with NEC Sections 310.7 and300.50 for direct burial.

    Excellent corona resistance. Screens are clean stripping. Exceptional resistance to treeing. Resistant to most oils, acids, and alkalies. Improved Temperature Rating.

    Minimum installation temperature of-40C.

    Ampacities are in accordance with Table 310.60(B)(71) of the NEC for aninsulated three conductor cable, isolated in air, with a conductor operatingtemperature of 105C and an ambient air temperature of 40C.

    Ampacities are in accordance with Table 310.60(B)(75) of the NEC for athree conductor Type MV-105 or MC cable installed in uncovered cable trayin accordance with Section 392.80(B) of the NEC with a conductor operatingtemperature of 105C and ambient air temperature of 40C. Where the cabletray is covered for more than six feet with solid unventilated covers, theampacities shall not be more than 95% of the values shown above.

    Ampacities are in accordance with Table 310.60(B)(83) of the NEC for aninsulated three conductor cable directly buried in the earth with a conductoroperating temperature of 105C, ambient earth temperature of 20C, 100%

    Load Factor, and a thermal resistance (RHO) of 90.Refer to the NEC, IEEE/ICEA S-135 Power Cable Ampacity Tables, or theOkonite Engineering Data Bulletin for installation in duct banks, multiple pointgrounded shields, other ambient temperatures, circuit configurations or instal-lation requirements.
