PROGRAM FEATURES
Sections
The user can point to any location along the beamand request the program to automatically draft a
cross-section, including reinforcement. A specialgraphics module enables the user to modify thesections produced by the program (add notches,slab details, additional reinforcement, text, etc.).
The user may also use a library of typical sections- the program will automatically modify the sectiondimensions, reinforcement and links to those in theactual beam.
Drawing layout
The user can create a separate drawing for eachbeam or arrange several beams and sections in onedrawing. Typical details and text can be added fromfile libraries.
The final fully scaled drawing can be plotted, printedor transferred to an AutoCAD DXF format file.
Scheduling
The program can automatically create a bar schedulefor the drawing.
The bar-scheduling module can also be used as astand-alone program for any reinforcement schedule.
Analysis and Design
BEAMD will analyze and design just about any sectionof a single or multi-span beam subject to a wide
range of loading conditions. Standard combinationload cases are generated automatically to meet coderequirements. The resultant BM envelope may beautomatically adjusted for redistribution withinspecified limits.
The program also designs the links with automaticvariable spacing allowing for shear reduction at thesupports.
Detailing
In a few seconds the program selects and displaysa reinforcement arrangement, which represents aneconomic and practical solution, and meets all therelevant code requirements:
Moment envelope coverage. Anchorage and curtailment. Arrangement of bars in the section. Restrictions on percentage of reinforcement,
number of bars and allowable diameters. Top/bottom face level difference between spans.
The automatic detailing is carried out according touser-defined parameters (such as range ofdiameters and covers) but reinforcement details areeasily modified interactively. The diameter, quantity,length, layer, etc. of any bar may be revised.Revisions are automatically reflected in the beamelevation, the detailing, the sections and in thescheduling.
The user need not worry that the modifiedarrangement will no longer meet the coderequirements as at any stage of the modificationshe can request:
A complete design check of the currentarrangement.
A graphic display of the reinforcementsuperimposed on the bending moment envelope,clearly showing any excess or missingreinforcement.
