111The Denver Zephyr glides into Denver's Union Station and there is your Hertzcar waiting for you. A detailed chart of your tour course describing routes andstops to be made will be furnished for your convenience. In a matter of minutesyou are heading west to a new land of adventure—Colorado's mesa country. Just outof Denver you will enter the mountains, pass Golden, Idaho Springs, through rockygorges until you reach Georgetown. Westward from Georgetown the highwayswind back and forth as you gradually ascend to the top of the "front range" andthe Continental Divide.

At an altitude of 11,988 feet, Loveland Pass crosses theContinental Divide (left). From here it is but a shortdistance to Vail, a convenient stop for lunch, andon to Glenwood Springs by way of Glenwood Canyon.In Glenwood Springs you stay overnight at theHOTEL DENVER. While here there will be time forswimming in the world's largest hot springsswimming pool. Be sure you do.

After breakfast in the morning inGlenwood Springs (left) it is but a shortdrive to Redstone and Marble for sightseeingand lunch. Another night at theHOTEL DENVER and you are off for Grand Junctionand the Colorado National Monument countryand Grand Mesa.

At 8 :30 in the morning you arrive in Denver after a restful night's trip on theVista-Dome Denver Zephyr. Breakfast at SPRUCE TREE LODGE the following morningand visit the museum and shops. After an early lunch atthe Lodge, you tour some of the ancient cliff dwellingsin the Park (above). Leaving Mesa Verde National Park,you drive to Durango and check in at your motel.This evening after dinner you're on your own or you canenjoy some rip-roarin' entertainment at the WESTERNMELODRAMA, a western classic presenting authenticplays from the 1800's and early 1900's.

The next day, you leave your Hertz car in Durango andboard the narrow-gauge train (above) for a thrilling53-mile trip to Silverton and returning to Durango. Yourevening is free to roam this western town, visiting theshops and stores. Wind up the day with a gay time atthe DIAMOND BELLE where mustached bartenders, andwaitresses in old-time costumes, serve you and thehonky-tonk piano entertains you.

In the morning you head east, driving past Chimney Rock,Pagosa Springs and over Wolf Creek Pass (above).Your next point of interest and stopping place is RoyalGorge Park, where you'll drive over the famous suspensionbridge. Leaving Royal Gorge Park you soon arriveat Colorado Springs, turn in your Hertz car and checkin at the ANTLERS HOTEL for the night.
