FOOTBALL ENDS THEIR SEASON WITH A DOMINANT WIN AND PREPARES FOR THE PLAYOFFS...

What’s that saying? When the going gets tough—the tough get going. After starting the season with the toughest competition in 8-Man and losing 4 in a row, Coach Martin and the Oriole football team have finished the season with dominant performances and countered with four straight wins Their last regular season game and win came at home against Cedar Valley Christian last Friday. Friday’s win moves the team to an even 5-5 mark on the year and 4-3 in District play. Friday night was all Springville from the opening drive as the O’s scored first and often, cruising to a 55-8 win. Springville had 250 plus yards of offense at the half and spread the ball around in the second half to give the Senior’s a few carries they normally wouldn’t have. Cedar Valley’s lone score came late in the game on a 5 yard run. The win at home is the last we’ll see at Allison Field this year. The O’s prepare to take on Don Bosco in first round playoff action on Wednesday. The 7pm

game will be in Gilbertville this evening. The Dons beat the O’s early in the season, 54-6 but this time of year? Everything changes and the O’s have simply gotten stronger as the season progressed. Break out your fall gear, show off your new hat and gloves and take a trip to watch the O’s advance after a Don Bosco win tonight. See you there! (Pictured above is Niklas Brede & Lucas Pilipovec making a tackle. To the right is John Evens scoring an Oriole touch down!)

CRAZY MASCOT OF THE WEEK… There’s some pretty wild mascots out there and this week we look at Bell Buckle, Tennessee. Located right in the middle of the state, the tiny town is home to the South’s oldest boarding school called The Webb School. With 320 students in grades 6 through 12, the school offers athletic programs in only football, cross country, soccer, volleyball and golf. Their school colors are blue and gold and their mascot? Well what goes well with the term Web? Feet of course—they are known as The Webb Feet!

WEEKLY PICKS CONTEST… This week we have some pretty interesting match-ups in college and the pro’s: Notre Dame at Temple Texas at Iowa State Vikings at Bears Packers at Broncos Choose your winners and for the tie-breaker, predict how many points Iowa will score on Maryland Saturday. This week’s winner came down to the tie-breaker. Many of you were a perfect 4 for 4 but Cavanaugh Riley was the one who chose 56 for the number of points Baylor would score on ISU (Baylor scored 45). Everyone else predicted scores in the 60’s—Thanks for playing and have a great week.
